About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling overwhelmed?
Anxious or lost?
You may find yourself often thinking of past events which still cause you pain today?
You may feel dissatisfied or just have a sense that something is not ok with you? Or struggle with relationships or in your job?
Have you experienced a bereavement or a loss of another kind such as a beloved pet, role in life, a job, relationship? Loss can mean many different things and talking can be very beneficial in processing changes in our lives.
There are no quick fixes and counselling can be challenging but we can work together to help increase your self awareness, confidence, reduce your anxiety. To identify aspects in your life that hinder you and work towards making choices in how you wish to lead you life going forward.
The humanistic counselling approach believes in the individual as a whole, everyone is unique, able to make their own decisions, to grow, change and realise their potential.
The counselling relationship is based on trust, genuineness, acceptance and is supportive, healing, and at times can be challenging. It is very important to choose a counsellor you feel safe with, can relate to and feel comfortable. It is a relationship based on working together, not about decisions being made for you, but empowering you to find your own strength and resources.
I work ethically and with integrity within the BACP guidelines and ethical framework. All confidential information is stored within GDPR regulations.
Practice description
As a qualified humanistic counsellor, I will do my best to understand you and your experience, provide you with an environment where you can safely begin to explore the issues that bring you to the counselling. We will work together and you will always be in control of what you do or do not wish to talk about. I will listen and ask questions to help aid my understanding. I may share with you insights I may have about your way of being. Counselling can be an opportunity for exploration, healing, growth and change, however at your pace.
I offer a free 30 minute telephone chat to see if it would be right for us go forward with sessions. Following sessions can be face to face, via the online platform Zoom or telephone, if this is suitable for you.
You can briefly tell me what brings you to counselling, your expectations and I will talk about how I work. The decision for us to work together is a mutual one as I need to work within my experience as a counsellor. It can be an anxious time to go forward with counselling especially if you have never experienced it however, there is no obligation, and you may wish for time to reflect before making a decision. If you feel you have connected to my profile please contact me if you would like to arrange an informal chat.
I generally work opened-ended and sessions are unstructured and 50 minutes however if you would like to work within a certain number of sessions in a more focused way we can do that.

After your initial 30 minutes we can arrange your first session. We will contract to work together. The first session is more structured and I will ask more questions such as contact details, GP, DOB and and begin to get an idea of your life and circumstances.
