About me and my therapy practice
My name is Nikki, I am an experienced counsellor with a warm and friendly approach. I have experience of working with children, young people and also adults. My special area of interest is in supporting survivors of childhood abuse and domestic abuse, which includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse. I have also trained in working with Eating disorders and also supporting individuals who have experienced Infant loss. I will provide a safe space to explore what has happened to you without judgement. Get in touch when you feel ready, I will listen.
I have also recently completed my EMDR training part 1 and as an EMDR therapist in training, I can now offer EMDR therapy.
Practice description
As a counsellor, I can provide a non-judgemental and safe space to explore your unique experiences and how you are feeling. I can also offer you a secure, confidential support to empower you to find a way forward in your life. As an accredited Member of the BACP, I am committed to work within their ethical framework.
I work face to face with clients in a clinic setting in Paignton and also have a clinic setting in Plymouth. I am able to offer online sessions via Zoom if this is more convenient for you as well as offering telephone sessions
My training is as an Integrative counsellor. This allows me to offer a flexible approach to working with you, appropriate to your needs and situation. I am also currently in training to be an EMDR therapist so can also offer this therapy.
My first session
If I receive contact then I will offer the opportunity to meet with you for 30 minutes without charge, to see how you feel about working with me
During our first session, we will talk through the factors that have caused you to seek counselling now, as well as practical details, such as session length, cost, timing and frequency. We will spend time together exploring how you would like to proceed and this can be produced in the form of a client/counsellor agreement.
It is important to work with the therapist that is right for you, as this is someone with whom you will discuss some personal details so if you decide at any stage that you would prefer not to continue, this is absolutely fine.
