About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist/counsellor and eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR) therapist, with experience working with adults who come to me with a range of issues.
These can include anxiety, depression, bereavement, work related issues, relationship breakdowns, neurodiversity challenges, gender and sexual identity, abuse and trauma.
This is not an exhaustive list – it’s just to give you an idea of why working with me may be able to help.
I am both a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means I have met the required standards of the BACP and completed a further rigorous application and assessment process.
EMDR
I am also an EMDR Therapist (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing), a clinically proven, evidence-based psychotherapy that is highly effective in helping individuals manage traumatic or distressing events in their lives. EMDR aims to reduce the distress by helping the brain to reprocess memories in a way that heals the past pain.
EMDR is best known for treating post traumatic stress, but can help with a range of issues such as depression, anxiety, phobias, chronic pain, low confidence/self esteem, addictions and anger management.
I am a member of the EMDR Association UK, the professional body for EMDR clinicians seeking the highest standards of clinical practice in the United Kingdom.
Practice description
It’s important to find a counsellor/therapist who you feel comfortable with. I want to create a safe, confidential space for you to talk, think through and explore your challenges.
I offer both time limited and open-ended therapy, either in person or online.
I am registered with some insurers and Employment Assistance Providers including AXA, Aviva, Vitality Health and Western Provident Association Ltd (WPA).
If you’re registered with an alternative provider, please contact me to discuss how we could work together.
My first session
I offer an initial consultation where we can meet (online or in person) to discuss what you are hoping to get from psychotherapy/counselling.
You will also get the chance to ask questions and get a better understanding of how I work, so you can decide if you are comfortable to continue.
If you decide to start psychotherapy/counselling, we will agree a suitable time and fee for weekly, 50 minute sessions.
The fee is £75 for a 50 minute session.
