About me and my therapy practice
I am a Southampton based BACP Accredited and insured integrative counsellor offering face-to-face and online sessions for individuals to explore any difficult thoughts, feelings & behaviours you are experiencing.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on multiple therapeutic theories to tailor my approach to each person which fits with my belief that everyone is an individual with their own experience of life.
My approach is based on authenticity and insight; through a relationship where we can both be honest, genuine and accepting, we can discover things about you and your experience and then use this knowledge to bring lasting change.
It is my belief that the therapeutic relationship itself is the vehicle for change so I work to provide a space that is empathic, supportive, confidential, non-judgemental and safe for us to explore the themes and experiences that you want to.
While whatever is troubling you may be in the present or future, it can be helpful to consider the past and discover the source of any difficulties you are experiencing. I subscribe to the idea that we often unconsciously repeat patterns in relationships that reflect those from our younger years. Once we have an understanding of these patterns we are then able to maintain an awareness of them and choose whether to repeat them or do things differently thus giving you a greater sense of control over your life.

Practice description
Training & Experience
I have completed a 2 year BACP accredited Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling with Iron Mill College, Poole. Integrative means that I am trained to draw on multiple theoretical approaches and blend them to tailor the way I work to each client. I draw in the main from psychodynamic and person-centred theory.
I have over two years’ experience counselling in a local hospice and have spent time volunteering for a local community counselling organisation. In 2021 I opened my private practice. These settings have provided me with experience working with issues of loss, bereavement, identity loss (particularly with former carers), relationships, trauma, historical physical and sexual abuse, diversity & culturalism, anxiety, depression and ADHD.
Ethics & Standards
As an Accredited member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) adhering to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, you can trust that I am working to high professional and ethical standards and am dedicated to providing a good service.
Part of this dedication is to my continuous professional development which I maintain by attending training courses and keeping up with developments in the counselling and psychotherapy field. In addition to this I attend regular clinical supervision where I discuss my caseload, while maintaining confidentiality, with a more experienced practitioner.
It is important to find the right therapist for you and I would encourage you to shop around.
My first session
I offer a free initial consultation which lasts 30 minutes and takes place on the telephone. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about counselling and see if you would like to work with me.
If we agree to work together we would then arrange an assessment which lasts 50 minutes and takes place in person or online using Zoom. This offers a chance for you to share what has brought you to counselling and an opportunity for me to collect some details to better understand your experience.
We would then begin having weekly counselling sessions which last 50 minutes and take place in person or online using Zoom. Ideally sessions will take place at the same time each week however I understand that some people require flexibility. I will work to accommodate this where possible.
I look forward to hearing from you.
