About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes life can take us down a road we didn't expect to be on and we can find ourselves facing difficulties and challenges that can be overwhelming. Through counselling you have an opportunity to address some of the problems you are experiencing.
As you are the expert of your own life, as your Counsellor my role is not to offer advice or solutions but to listen, empathise, encourage and help you make sense of what is going on in the hope that you will feel empowered to make your own decisions that result in a positive change. My sessions are client led so it will be up to you to choose what you want to talk about and at a pace you are comfortable with.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship between Counsellor and Client is key. Together we can explore the issues and difficulties with your thoughts that are affecting you and that are impacting on your everyday life.
Practice description
I am a qualified Counsellor and an Accredited member of the BACP.
Alongside my private practice I also work in two NHS settings which has given me a lot of experience working with a range of different problems and client groups. In particular, I have done a lot of work with clients presenting with trauma.
I initially trained in the psychodynamic approach, but now work integratively, so I will draw on different theories as best fits with you.
I am currently undertaking training in the Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression approach, which is one of the therapies recommended by the NHS Talking Therapies (IAPT) service.
