About me and my therapy practice
As a qualified therapeutic counsellor, my areas of professional experience are relationships, change/navigating life’s transitions, and teenagers/young persons (16+). In addition, I provide general counselling for key issues, such as depression, anxiety, low mood/self-esteem, men's issues, and stress.
Life is a journey full of ups and downs. We all experience challenges or times throughout our lives when we struggle. We might feel stuck, stressed, or anxious about the journey which lies ahead; or we might feel burdened by the weight we are carrying from the journey left behind.
The difficulties/challenges we find ourselves facing may cause distress and sometimes, they can lead us to stumble - but this doesn't mean you have to stand back up all alone. If you are feeling anxious, stressed, are struggling with relationships, or simply need a space to talk and feel heard, I truly care to lend a helping hand.
Using an integrative approach (different therapeutic approaches to suit your individual needs), I combine my professional experience, along with genuine empathy, kindness, and warmth. Through counselling or “talking therapy,” I will support you as we gently explore your challenges/issues, and help you to gain insight/clarity, so you can begin to work towards finding meaning/understanding of your experiences. My aim as a therapist is to help/support you along the journey, so you can begin to unfold/explore alternative solutions or ways in which you can move forward, towards a happier, more meaningful and fulfilling life, with greater confidence and courage.
Practice description
I am a qualified and registered member of the BACP and an accredited member of the NCS, and work by/adhere to their Codes of Ethics. I have an enhanced DBS check and am fully insured.
In addition to my private practice, I provide general counselling for key issues within a Therapeutic/Wellbeing Centre and I am a Volunteer Qualified Therapeutic Counsellor for Open Door Counselling (Charity), which provides counselling to adolescence aged 13-26. I also have professional experience working within a women's refuge, providing short-term therapy. I am also a French speaker.
I work with adults and teenagers/young adults (16+) and have experience working with a diverse range of clients. I welcome individuals from different backgrounds, religions, races, ages, genders, and abilities. I respect that we are all individual - with our own set of experiences/viewpoints.
My first session
It is important for you to find the right counsellor, with whom you will feel comfortable and safe. I would love the opportunity to work with you, but I understand it can feel daunting to take the first step.
I provide a 20-minute informal discussion (non-committed), in which we can briefly discuss your circumstances, your goals/hopes from counselling/therapy, and how we might work together. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the counselling service I provide, or about counselling in general. I hope it will also provide you with the opportunity for you to see if you feel I might be the right counsellor for you. I hope you will find me to be warm, open, friendly, and compassionate. If I am unable to support you, or you feel I am not the right counsellor for you, I will aim to help signpost you to alternative services/counselling services.
If you decide you would like to begin counselling, we can then agree on a convenient day/time for your regular sessions, and discuss whether your preference is for face to face, online or telephone counselling.
Client sessions last 60 minutes.
If you would like to have an informal discussion or to book the first session, please do get in touch.
