About me and my therapy practice
The healing power of telling your story.
When I was at the beginning of my training, each member of the group was asked to give a presentation on our ‘life space’, a concept that the environment is the prime factor in determining an individual’s behaviour. I shared a significant part of my childhood when I was aged 8 and the huge impact it had on my life, and how this had then shaped who I later became.
Do you have a story that needs to be heard? Is there a ‘real’ you that needs to ‘stand up’ and be seen/visible? Are you consciously or unconsciously hiding or denying certain emotions, and traits that you fear most in yourself? Perhaps accepting these aspects would remind you too much of someone you have judged as being weak, selfish or a failure.
I offer a safe and non-judgmental space in which you can express yourself openly and so have your story known, held, and valued. Together we will explore and acknowledge the significance of your experience and in turn validate and accept your emotions which may have been abandoned, hidden, or rejected as a way of adapting into any family/ group/culture in order to fit in or survive. This can enable you to unlock and reclaim the lost parts of yourself back into your personality which may just prove to be the important hidden strengths you need to break with current behaviour, for example being passive, enslaved to perform, having poor boundaries or lacking independence.
