About me and my therapy practice

Do you hear yourself telling everyone that you’re ‘fine’, but really you aren’t fine?

Feelings of anxiety, panic and depression can get in the way of you living your best life. Maybe you’re having relationship, body image, college, university or work issues?

Perhaps you feel like you aren’t good enough and are somehow failing. Do you worry about what other people think of you, or struggle to relax and feel safe?

Are you finding:

  • it difficult to get on with your work, studies or life?
  • that the pressure is too much?
  • it hard to make decisions?
  • it hard to love or even like yourself?
  • you feel like hiding yourself away?

Sometimes we can feel guilty or ashamed about things that have happened (or are currently happening) to us that are difficult to talk about. Sometimes the pain, confusion or worry can become too much. Perhaps you aren’t even sure what it is that makes you feel like this.

Maybe you are feeling isolated, misunderstood and finding it difficult to share your problems with those around you? Do you feel that you don’t want to be a burden?

The weight of painful thoughts and memories can become overwhelming, making it hard to sleep, which just adds to the cycle of feeling overwhelmed, anxious, upset or that you can't cope with things.

Imagine, for example, being able to go out and enjoy yourself without worrying, or having a panic attack, over what people (might) think about how you look or speak? How would it feel to no longer believe that everything is your fault when things go wrong, that you are enough and you don’t have to seek approval from others to be loved or accepted? Would you like to believe in yourself and your ability without comparing yourself to everyone else?

Practice description

Counselling with me aims to help you:

  • feel understood and less alone with what you are going through.
  • begin to know what you want.
  • explore more about yourself and why you are feeling the way that you are.
  • develop helpful coping strategies.
  • become more empowered, resilient, and confident going forward.

My approach is to work with and alongside you, providing a confidential place where you can talk about what you choose to.

The relationship with your therapist is key to helping you make the changes you wish for in yourself. I know from my own experience that it is important you feel comfortable, supported and at ease with whoever you choose to help you.

Clients who have worked with me have said that I am warm and easy to talk to. I am open minded and what you say matters to me. I believe that if you can begin to open up to me about what is going on for you that you will start to heal and feel better.

Daunting as this may seem, you’ve already taken the first step forward.

Working together we can find the solutions that you are looking for. You are not alone, I’m here to listen to you.

I am an experienced and qualified counsellor working in private practice with both young people and adults who are experiencing a variety of issues. I have previously worked as a counsellor at Cambridge University, mental health charities and also as a counselling tutor, training potential counsellors for their National Counselling Society Diploma qualification.

My clients come from diverse backgrounds, presenting with different issues, including: anxiety, low mood, depression, low self-esteem, exam/work pressures, relationship difficulties, family issues, body image, trauma, emotional abuse and chronic pain.

I engage in over 30 hours of Continual Professional Development training every year to ensure that my skills are continually evolving, relevant and up to date.
