About me and my therapy practice

As an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, I incorporate different theoretical models, skills and techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual client. This means that sometimes we will look at what is happening in the present, the areas of life that may be causing distress and what that looks and feels like.  Other times we may delve into the past and explore the origins of issues and the impact they have on daily life.  We may look at thinking and behaviour patterns, feelings, emotions, defences. I do not give advice but help you find your own way.    Where appropriate, I'll provide information and exercises that may increase understanding of causes of distress and symptoms, as well as help to manage those symptoms.

I am particularly interested in how the body responds to trauma, stress, anxiety and repressed emotion and we will work on learning to notice, interpret and regulate these responses.

My approach is non-directive, non-judgemental, open-minded, down to earth,  creative, challenging when needed.  I believe that there's a place for humour and creativity in the counselling room and both can be used to enhance the counselling experience.  Ultimately, I am motivated to help clients find the awareness, clarity and resources to help themselves.

I deliver short and long term psychotherapy and counselling in both the charity and private sectors, working with a broad range of issues and with people from varied walks of life.

My qualifications include:

Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Level 4

Diploma in Counselling Teenagers (Level 6 equivalent)

CATT (Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique) for working with PTSD and C-PTSD (also appropriate for adults)
