About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative therapist and have Accredited status with the BACP.
I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where you can explore your thoughts and emotions. I try to understand the deep emotional narrative so that you can gain a better understanding of yourself. I work with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, boarding school issues, workplace issues, trauma, loss and bereavement. My practice involves face to face counselling as well as remote counselling and I do both short term and long term counselling.
My background is in law and television. I trained as a Barrister and worked in a Solicitor's office. I then went on to make Documentaries for twelve years. Having worked in these industries, I recognise the pressures and stresses for both creatives as well as for those who work in a more formal environment.
I have a Diploma in Integrative counselling and carried out my clinical hours at Waterloo Community Counselling, Caris Islington as well as Camden, City, Islington and Westminster Bereavement Service. I have a Bachelor's degree in Law and I also hold the Barristers' Finals qualification
Practice description
I am an Integrative counsellor who works with psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural therapy. I work with these three modalities because I believe that each client is unique and that no single modality suits all. In my work, I may look at how current feelings are shaped by past experiences and attachments. I may also look at patterns of behaviour and how sometimes we get locked into them. I believe that given a safe and supportive space we are able to fulfil our potential and then we can start making decisions from a position of self awareness. One of the most important things in therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. I think I provide a sensitive, warm and thoughtful space for the client to explore themselves.
I have a fully enhanced DBS check and I am a Accredited member of the BACP. I adhere to the BACP code of ethics. I am also an Accredited registrant of the NCPS.
My first session
I offer the first telephone appointment for 20 minutes free of charge. This first session is an initial assessment where I will ask some general questions to explore the issues that you face. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me questions to find out more about the way that I practice. As the relationship between the client and therapist is so important this assessment gives us some idea as to whether the relationship may work and if we should proceed to a first session of therapy.
