About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced psychotherapist/counsellor specialising in anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, trauma, PTSD and CPTSD, bereavement and loss, and relationship issues. I also have extensive experience of working within men’s mental health, in particularly historic sexual abuse. Whilst specialising in these areas, I also have experience in other non-specific difficulties that people face. Each of the people I work with has their own life experiences and their own individual, unique difficulties, all of which are as important as those which I have listed.
I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their Ethical Code of Practice. I work in a humanistic, person-centred way and offer a safe place to explore and make sense of your difficulties, in a calm and unhurried environment.
The type of therapy that I work with puts you at the centre of your experience and enables you to find your own way, in a non-judgemental, empathic, and confidential environment. I will help you to heal from your pain and enable you to move forward to where you want to be in your life whilst supporting you through every step of your journey and enabling you to become the person that you want to be.
Practice description
I understand that entering into therapy can feel a little daunting especially if you do not like using the phone or sending an email. And the thought of meeting a new person may feel overwhelming. During our initial contact, we can talk about what will happen during our sessions, what we may talk about, what your expected outcomes of the therapy might be and if necessary, how to connect in the future.
I offer both face to face and online counselling to suit your requirements.
My first session
I offer a reduced rate initial assessment which will give us the chance to talk about your individual difficulties and where you would like to be in your life. This session will give us the opportunity to consider whether we would be comfortable working together to enable you to reach your goal. Once this has been agreed, I will talk you through the contract which will explain the session length, timings and confidentiality.

Practice description
Supervision, to me, means a collaboration between the supervisor and the supervisee, and my role within this relationship is to encourage, support, and work with the supervisee, to promote growth within their practice. Being a therapist myself, I understand how important the supervisor/supervisee relationship is, and my role is to ensure that the supervisee understands that just because I hold the title of “supervisor” it does not mean that I am the expert. Together, our relationship will promote the growth and understanding that is needed to create a healthy, knowledgeable and informed practice.
However, that said, I consider that safe and ethical practice is paramount and I will challenge the supervisee when and where I feel it is necessary.
Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohets Seven-Eyed model of Supervision informs the way that I work, alongside the six necessary and sufficient conditions of Person-Centred Therapy. This way of working puts the needs of the supervisee and the client at the centre of the supervision relationship.
