About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP registered integral counsellor in Portsmouth, UK, with over 10 years of experience. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including Anxiety, Depression, Family and Relationship issues, Confidence and self esteem. I specialise in supporting Survivors/victims of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault, Loss, Grief and Bereavement.  I also have a background in working with children and young people, I therefore have a current DBS certificate.

My style of therapy is Empathic, Caring and Nurturing. I understand that counselling can be daunting and scary, so I will be led by you, my approach is from an integral combination of therapies which support the needs of the client. Counselling is not a 'one size fits all' approach, meaning you are able to work with what is most important to you now, this may be Cognitive and behavioural, Psychodynamic, person centred or inner child. I believe in treating everyone with Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity and to Enable you to take that step toward a life you want and are in control of.

Practice description

I work flexibly with what the client finds most comfortable, face-to-face, over the telephone, and on online platforms, such as Zoom, Teams, FaceTime, and WhatsApp.

I have found that many people find this type of counselling session easier to access and open up about, I discovered that some start with the telephone and move on to video or indeed face to-face as they become more confident and at ease.

My first session

" Recognising you are in pain is the first step, Trusting in someone when you are vulnerable is the next........."

I understand the courage it takes to want to seek help and support, if you are ready to take that step with me, then I am here to support and empower you.

Your first session will be your chance to get to know me and feel if I would be the person you will feel safe and comfortable to talk to.

I will also complete with you a short assessment of how you are feeling and to see what you want to gain from your sessions.

Practice description

For the past 2 years, I have been developing training, workshops group and individual counselling for organisations to support their staff's well-being and mental health.

Mental health is a topic that many of us find difficult to talk about, let alone work on.

I have predominantly worked with care homes dealing with illness, dying, death, and bereavement. It is easy to forget how vulnerable we can be when dealing with this daily, however, I have worked with a company that wanted to support staff when a colleague had been diagnosed with cancer, facilitating group and individual support as a platform to talk about their thoughts and feelings as well as support when their colleague had died.
