About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Jess, an experienced BACP Accredited counsellor working with adults and young adults.
Life may feel challenging right now and you don't quite know how to move forward. I offer a warm, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.
I work with a range of issues including depression and anxiety, relationship issues, bereavement and loss, work and study pressures, family issues, life changes and addressing coping behaviours that no longer feel helpful. Feeling listened to and understood can open up the possibility of choice and growth, leading to a more fulfilling life.
In addition to my private practice, I work for Heads Together, a counselling service in Surrey, supporting young people.
A trusting relationship is at the very heart of the work we do together. Our sessions will always focus on respecting your needs and wants, at a pace which is comfortable for you.
Practice description
How counselling can help
Sometimes our life experiences can cause anxiety, depression and stress which can make it feel hard to cope and find ways to move forward.
You may worry about burdening others with your problems and they can go unresolved. Exploring your issues with a counsellor can feel liberating as it allows you to be open and share your thoughts and feelings without being judged.
Issues we can work together to address
• Life events such as relationship and health issues, work and study stress, bereavement and loss demand that we must constantly adapt to change. Without support, this can take its toll leading to stress, anxiety and depression.
• Exploring and challenging coping behaviours which may have developed over time and can start to become increasingly unhelpful leading to avoidance and self-criticism.
• Recognising how past experiences and patterns of behaviour have shaped you. These insights can help you understand yourself in the present, which enables choices that lead to healing, acceptance and change.
• Understanding how your inner critic, which can sometimes feel so unforgiving, can lead you away from the self-compassion needed to live a fulfilling life.
My first session
It is important for you to feel comfortable with your counsellor from the outset and therefore I offer a free 30 minute session where we can get to know one another, you can discuss what you would like to get out of counselling and ask any questions.
