I work in Witney, Monday to Thursday, in person. My timetable varies; do feel free to get in touch to see whether we can find a time that suits.
About me and my therapy practice
Counselling, or talking therapy, can be useful for many reasons: you might feel in crisis and would like to find help out of a tricky situation, or you may be looking to change unhelpful behaviours, or go into more exploratory self-understanding. Therapy can last for one or two sessions, several months, or even years.
I am a kind, and down-to-earth therapist who is not afraid to challenge when the time is right. My approach to counselling is integrative, in that I will offer a variety of approaches depending on what you need or ask for - it's a collaboration. We build our work together by building our relationship together, and so therapy is always a unique experience.
With me you will find a safe space where you can say anything without being judged, and feel anything without being wrong.
I welcome whatever you bring: neurodivergence, trauma, worry, confusion, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, identity issues, grief and loneliness. I am trained in Rewind, and in Guided Imagery & Visualisation. We may find we want to do some mind-mapping, or meditation, or empty chair work. Sometimes you may feel you simply need to 'borrow a brain' and look for a different perspective, and sometimes you mainly need a safe space to offload whatever is troubling.
You might worry whether your concerns are important enough to warrant seeking therapy. If there is something worrying you, then the chances are you are hoping to feel better. That is enough reason to ask for help.
Practice description
Are you struggling with feelings around self-esteem, anxiety, depression or stress? Are you trying to make sense of life and your place in it? Do you feel stuck in a difficult relationship or situation? Do you have life-limiting issues, or regrets for a life lived differently from the one you had imagined?
I offer individual counselling therapy for adults and older adults. My approach is humanistic and mainly phenomenological: we work on how you feel in the present, and consider what you want and need to do in order to shape your future. This sits within existentialism (if you're interested to know!). Sometimes we find that patterns laid down in the past affect the present and we may choose to work on those too. I never work with only one approach and we talk about the process as we go along.
I offer help with the following:
Anxiety
Coping with physical illness
Depression
End-of-life resolutions
Grief and loss
Issues with identity
Life transitions
Low self-esteem
Relationships
Stress
Trauma
Work issues
My first session
I meet potential clients for an initial assessment – fixed at £45 for individuals and £60 for couples – where we can get to know each other before deciding whether to start work together. I am happy also to have a short telephone chat beforehand.
