About me and my therapy practice
I believe in the potential of all individuals. It is why I do what I do.
When we experience stressful times in life, it can be difficult to see our own strength, resilience and resourcefulness. I can help you to reconnect with these skills. I will empower you to discover your own coping strategies which will serve you now and in the future.
Perhaps you are wondering why certain patterns repeat themselves in life? In therapy, I can help you to explore how your own life experiences may have shaped how you think, feel and behave in certain situations.
I am trained in Psychodynamic Counselling, but I integrate other approaches in my work, including Somatic Therapy and Psychosynthesis. Both conscious and unconscious emotions express themselves through our body. I often incorporate techniques to help bring these to your awareness, supporting you to notice and explore how your body reacts to stress, anxiety and other emotions.
I have experience in helping clients coping with grief and loss, life limiting illness, with stress and anxiety, motivation, self-esteem, confidence, & depression. My approach is client-led so I will use my skills and knowledge to best suit your requirements from therapy.
I have a compassionate and warm approach. I will validate your feelings and will listen with empathy and without judgment.
Practice description
I am a fully insured, BACP registered Counsellor, as such I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework.
I offer face to face sessions to adults in the Staffordshire Moorlands, or remotely either online or telephone. It's important that you attend your session in a way that feels right and most comfortable for you.
We can agree a suitable time for your sessions and with an interval that suits your needs and affordability, ie weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Sessions usually take place at the same time each week but I will be flexible where I can, taking into consideration your commitments and needs.
I have a lot of experience supporting individuals and their families following a diagnosis of a life -limiting or life- changing health conditions, including Inherited White Matter Disorders (IWMD), MS, ME, Huntington’s and Cancer. Such changes in life can alter the perception that we have of ourselves and the world around us, but they don’t have to define us.
I have an Advanced Diploma in Fertility Counselling and have experience supporting clients following miscarriage and baby loss.
I have also completed additional training in Embodied Processing for Trauma, CBT for Trauma and ACT for Pain Management.
My first session
If my words resonate with you or for more information about the way that I work, please get in touch to arrange a free 30 minute consultation.
The consultation is a great way for us both to gain an understanding of what our therapeutic relationship will look like; hopefully you will have a greater understanding of how I work and I will know how I can support you and your needs through counselling.
All you need is a safe space to talk so that we can explore what brings you to counselling and what you would like to achieve from your sessions.
