About me and my therapy practice

I know how daunting and anxiety provoking the prospect of starting therapy can be. By finding yourself here you have recognised that there may be areas in your life you would like to address. Recognising this is the biggest step of the therapeutic process.

I am an integrative therapist believing that one style of therapy does not suit everyone; we all need different things at different points in our lives depending on our situation and struggles. Therapy is about finding a way to express yourself and communicate feelings. Finding the right words can be difficult, but by working together I can help find these and explore the feelings that can arise . Though therapy is a serious process often filled with high emotions, I believe at times there can be space for fun and humour.

Practice description

I have lots of experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of issues and diagnoses including: abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, identity, relationship or work problems, bipolar and personality disorders.

Everyone deserves to be heard. I seek to support and work collaboratively to enable you to develop a better awareness of yourself and your relationships with others.

Whatever your reason for deciding to commence therapy I provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to explore issues and experiences that are important or difficult. By sharing experiences, voicing feelings and working with me, I work to help you through both the difficult and “eureka” moments of therapy to empower you to make positive changes to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

As a Registered member of BACP I observe their code of ethics to maintain a high standard of therapy.

My first session

Prior to our first session I ensure that we have a brief telephone conversation so you can tell me a little about yourself and outline what you would like to work on and achieve through therapy. It also gives you a chance to ask me any questions and allows you to decide if I am the right person for you. I can also make sure I have the right skills to give you the best and most effective treatment.

If you decide you would like to work with me we will arrange our 1st session. During this I will take some history and get to know you and more about your goals. You can also ask me questions on how I work, or anything else that may be worrying you about starting therapy.

Again, during this session you can access if I am the right person for you. Just because we have met there is no commitment to carrying on if it does not feel right. Your relationship to whichever therapist you choose is vital to help you achieve your goal.
