Practice description
Hello,
My name is Jane Mycroft. I have 25 years experience of working as a counsellor and have a friendly, empathic, open and informal approach to counselling and try to avoid 'counsellor speak' at all times.
I work with individual adults over 18, couples and families and I specialise in working with the elderly and those at end of life around loss, grief, trauma and fear as well as celebration of their life's experience and acceptance of its ending. I am able to visit you at home or in a care home as well as seeing you at my practice.
My plan is to put you at your ease so that you feel safe and able to open up and explore your feelings and thoughts, using me as a sounding board without any pressure to move faster than you feel is comfortable.
I will listen and offer ideas, prompts and suggestions but not advice on how to live your life. Instead I'll be alongside you, supporting you through the process of understanding yourself better, while you gain confidence and the ability to make your own decisions and start to make the changes you want to make.
I began my journey as a counsellor in 1998, and I work in an eclectic way, drawing from many different counselling models including Humanistic, Person-Centred and CBT. I have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and a Degree in Addictions Counselling.
I adapt the way I work with each individual to fit their needs and personality.
My first session
Having had an initial contact from you we would agree a time to chat informally on the phone to discuss your needs and, if you wish to go ahead, agree a time and day for your first counselling session.
We can speak again if you wish to, either on the phone or video call, should you wish to discuss your needs or ask me any questions you may have, which I will not charge for.
Fees are only applicable once you decide to continue and attend our first session. This will be payable in advance of the session commencing.
Sessions are for 1 hour.
