About me and my therapy practice
My name is Ruth and I am a person-centred counsellor with a Master's degree in Clinical Counselling and I am a registered member of the BACP.
I am a warm, caring and reliable counselling professional with a deep sense of personal and professional integrity. My formal therapy training is Person-Centred (Humanistic) with a particular interest in Complex Trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and early life Attachment.
I am committed to providing compassionate, therapeutic support to adults, young people and children. I offer a warm, confidential, therapeutic space where you may discuss whatever you may wish, without judgement. We may work together for an agreed number of sessions or in an ‘open ended’ approach.
I have a background working with a wide range of clients, adults and young people in particular, with a wide variety of clients ranging from abuse, grief and bereavement, low self esteem, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, self harm, sexual abuse and relationship difficulties.
Alongside private counselling, I work as a therapist with a charitable organization based in Chester, providing counselling to clients, children and families facing challenging issues.
Beyond counselling, I have a background in education, having practiced as a teacher for over twenty five years, working within the 11-18 age range. My experience in education has given me a greater understanding of the significance of childhood adversity upon individuals and I am a certified CBT therapist with a special interest in resilience and personal growth across the life span.
