About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling anxious, isolated, lonely, self-critical and disconnected? Perhaps you are grieving. Would you like to have a better relationship with yourself and others? Then I might be able to help you. I am an online mental health counsellor and mindfulness practitioner.

- Person-centred counselling
- Gestalt Therapy
- Transactional Analysis
- Dealing with Shame
Working therapeutically with the body
- Advanced Diploma in Embodied Relational Therapy involving 200 hours of residential, experiential training with Stephen Tame and Allison Priestman

Mindfulness and Breathwork training
- Meditating with the Body series and in-person, experiential retreat with Reginald Ray, Vajrayana Lineage holder
- Awakening the Body with Reginald Ray
- The Power of Awareness training with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield
I have two years experience counselling cancer patients and their carers at The Olive Tree Centre, a cancer support charity.
I worked at Horsham and Crawley Counselling Group with clients presenting with issues such as low confidence and self-esteem, negative self-image, bereavement and interpersonal relationship problems.
Practice description
I believe we all have an inherent need to move towards achieving our full potential and lead fulfilling and purposeful lives. When we face a problem or need motivation and clarity in our lives, we may focus on the pain and discomfort of it all and lose track of finding a solution. By talking to a therapist, you may find the direction and clarity you are looking for.
Do you identify with any of these issues:
- You may be disconnected from your feelings or people in your life
- Struggling with unhelpful behaviours and thoughts
- Feeling alone, lost and isolated and not wanting to burden the people you love
- Depressed or sad and feeling like others don't understand you
- Having disturbing memories or trauma from the past impacting you
- Or having trouble putting into words how you feel
My job as a therapist is to help you articulate what the problem(s) is, how it is affecting your life and ways of overcome its drag on you. This may seem like a daunting prospect but having support means you can be motivated and look ahead to focus on the objectives you set for yourself and work with habits, behaviours and mindset that stand in the way of facilitating change.
I offer you a confidential and safe space to :
- talk openly and honestly about life
- explore anxiety, depression or feeling afraid or sad
- to explore culturally sensitive issues, loneliness, anger, confusion or bereavement
- build confidence and self-esteem
- find support during physical/emotional pain
In this partnership between you and I, I will bring commitment, experience and passion. What I ask of you is to have a strong desire for change and commitment for living a better life.
My first session
I offer a FREE half hour online meeting to assess our compatibility.
Regularity - Most therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and you attend every week on an agreed day and time. But this is not set in stone. The main priority is that continuity is not broken by ad-hoc sessions here and there. In order for you and counsellor to build a safe and trusting relationship, sessions need to be regular with not too much time in-between. All sessions will be conducted online.
Your first counselling session – what happens?
Every counsellors is different in the way they approach their first session with a client. First session should include:
• Introductions - Therapists usually spend time introducing themselves and explaining how they work. Feel free to ask them about their qualifications, experience, how your sessions will go and anything else on your mind such as wanting to sit in a different seat or to be referred to by your nickname.
• Assessment - Counsellors may want to know the history of the problems you are experiencing, who is in your support network, ask to fill in some forms, etc. As with the introduction, the assessment is to get to know you better and offer you the best support you need. It also enables the counsellor to understand if it is within their capability to help you or whether they need to refer you to someone who has expertise in the area that’s troubling. Working within their level of competence is crucial to protect both the client and themselves.
• Contracting for counselling - Your therapist should agree the terms or contract with you which will cover the frequency of sessions, confidentiality, data protection and fees. This may be either a verbal agreement or a printed document for you both to sign. This is a business contract. Contracting may also include a therapeutic contract which is not written down. This will include the focus of the work and what you want to get out of counselling, which could be unravelled over a period of time.
