About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Integrative Transpersonal Counsellor. I work from an intersectional, trauma informed perspective. I often work with LGBTQ+ people. I often work with people around self esteem, anxiety, childhood trauma, relationship issues, neurodivergence, health conditions, life transitions and spirituality. I am kink and poly/ENM informed/affirmative.
I offer in-person sessions in Walthamstow, North East London as well as online counselling, using Zoom for sessions.
People come to counselling for many reasons. You may be here because you’ve experienced a recent loss or trauma, or have painful feelings that you’ve always carried with you. You may be feeling depressed, anxious or hopeless and your usual ways of coping aren’t working so well anymore. Or you may be feeling stuck in your life or career and would like to make a change, but you’re not sure which way to turn.
It takes courage to explore painful experiences. It can be difficult to acknowledge and let go of familiar patterns and ways of coping.
Counselling provides a supportive and non-judgemental space to do this work, and begin (or continue) a process of healing and transformation.
I will listen, support and, when appropriate, gently challenge you to help you to find new and creative ways to understand and work through your current difficulty or distress, and move forward in your life.
I worked for three years as a volunteer counsellor at the East London Out Project (ELOP), a charity which provides low-cost counselling to LGBTQ+ people.
Practice description
As an Integrative Transpersonal Counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches in my work. These include transpersonal, Jungian, psychodynamic and Gestalt. I give a place to soul and soulfulness, which means viewing difficult experiences as a meaningful part of our journey towards wholeness, wisdom and self-acceptance.
You can expect me to be curious and an active participant in the therapeutic process. I will help you to be authentic, relational and vulnerable by being so myself.
I'm experienced in providing therapy to people exploring issues around sexuality, gender identity and relationship diversity. This includes people who are lesbian, gay, bi, pan, queer, asexual and questioning, genders including trans, non-binary, genderqueer and cis people, and people who identify as, or are exploring, kinky, polyamorous and open relating.
My first session
The relationship between a counsellor and client is the key to successful therapy. I offer a free 20-minute consultation on the phone to help you see if you’d like to work with me.
If we decide to work together, we would usually arrange to meet weekly at a regular time for a 50-minute session. I offer short and long-term counselling. We may decide to start with a fixed number of sessions to start with, and then review how it’s going.
