I offer weekly face-to-face sessions in my therapy room situated away from the main building at the side of the property, at the bottom of the garden. Alternatively, I also offer weekly online zoom sessions to fit into people's busy lives. I have daytime and evening appointments. Because the way I work is relational, we will need to commit to weekly sessions either short or long-term.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Emma, a Psychotherapeutic Integrative Counsellor who has experienced myself how therapy can support the most difficult times we experience in life. I will come alongside you and together we can take the steps which are most important to you. Whether it's the pain of grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, depression or you just feel lost or in a rut. We can sometimes be stuck in a cycle of unhealthy relationships. or patterns of behavior that you want to change. I believe there are times we all need support to understand ourselves and look at how we perceive a changing world and where we fit into it. Depending on our childhood experiences things can look and feel frightening or overwhelming. I offer a 50-minute weekly session and as a Person-Centered Therapist, this time is a confidential, none judgmental safe place for you to explore either face-to-face or online.
Practice description
It is important to me you find a good fit regarding therapy, so send me a brief email or call to arrange an initial free 30-minute appointment. This is different from a session, I can explain how I work and hear your reason for wanting therapy. We both then discuss together how we want to move forward with you at the center of the decision. If we decide to move forward together then we can look at a day and time each week are both happy to commit to.
My first session
Due to the work, we do together being from a more relational place the first session is really based on me giving you the space to share your story and have a professional, none judgmental ear. Together we will see what is important for you to get out of our time together and look at a timeline and way that feels comfortable for you. I offer talking therapy, and pull on different things to support our work together but only if it feels comfortable to you. 'Integrative therapy' means pulling on different things to give a more personalized experience. Getting to know each other for trust to build and sharing what works and doesn't work takes time and commitment to each other. I pull on C.B.T, and Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic but my main theory is Person-Centered Humanistic.
