About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes life can be overwhelming and isolating, especially in these challenging times.
As a qualified, accredited and insured Counsellor & Clinical Supervisor, I provide a safe space and humanistic approach to therapy to help you express your emotions, without judgement.
I listen, respect, and accept you are an individual and believe that talking through life’s challenges with a trained, impartial third party, who has your best interests at heart, can help you arrive at a sense of clarity. This enabling you to either change, accept or learn to cope with your situation, promoting wellbeing and help you to reach your full potential.
I run my counselling service from my cozy Counselling Room which is nestled away in a calm and rural location within easy reach from Faversham and Canterbury, well-lit and with free parking.
My person-centred approach lends itself best to face-to-face counselling to help you gain a better understanding of your thought processes and feelings. However, I can also offer online sessions should you prefer to remain in the comfort of their own home.
I recognize the importance of having a strong, collaborative and trusting relationship between client and counsellor and work in accordance to the BACP Ethical Framework and code of Ethics to ensure safe and confidential practice for both of us.
Practice description
Since starting my Private Practice in March 22, I have been awarded BACP Accreditation. This means my counselling practice meets the higher standards as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner
My experienced comes from working with long term open-ended clients as well as shorter more focus solution based sessions, and take a tailored approach as to which works best for you.
I have been very fortunate to work within the charity sector at both Mid Kent Mind and The Lucy Raynor Foundation, offering long term counselling to a variety of ages and supporting clients to work through a variety of issues.
I also have experience working with young adults and neuro-diversity in a college environment.
More recently I have become an affiliated Counselor for Support Line.
My trained approach is person-centered counselling which means I am non-judgmental and non-directive. I believe we all have our own unique perspective and hope to empower you to make the decisions you feel fit for you.
However, I believe, by integrating a psychodynamic approach we learn how unconscious processes and unresolved past conflicts can influences our behavior. Resulting in understanding ourselves and how we relate to others.
We can work through our sessions together, in a safe and supported environment, at your pace and your agenda, taking small steps toward an ultimate outcome, to become the best version of your true self.
My first session
I understand it can be difficult to start the counselling process, especially when you are unfamiliar with the counsellor, this can be a daunting experience.
It is often hard to open up for the first time, and feeling comfortable with a therapist is so important to allow good work to happen.
For this reason, please feel free to call, text or email me for a confidential, no obligation discussion. Here it is important and helpful for me to give you a brief understanding on how we can work together and find out your expectations of the therapeutic process.

About me and my therapy practice
With over six years experience as a person centred counsellor, I bring my theoretical approach to supervision.
Qualified in Level 6 Diploma in Clinical & Developmental Supervision. My current supervision experience comes from supporting counselors in an education setting and in PP. Facilitating continuous growth for supervisees in both newly qualified and established therapists.
Drawing on Inskipp & Proctor's Restorative, Normative & Formative approaches.
The relationship with m supervisees is paramount to my work and I am able to shift my approaches to the unique developmental needs.
Working in accordance to BACP Ethical Framework.
Offering either face-to-face, individual or group and online supervision sessions.
Practice description
I see clinical & developmental supervision as knowing how and when to shift subtly between the role of mentor, teacher, encourager and temporary therapist as appropriate. This means that if we work together, I am able to adjust the range and type of support offered in a way that matches a your own level of experience as a supervisee, while allowing you to move towards increased understanding of, confidence in and responsibility for your own practice.
This is all done within the context of developmental and integrative models, reflecting on your therapeutic practice in which you are encouraged to feel safe to explore both strengths and weaknesses.
My typical supervision session would see you checking in before going on to survey your caseload, either with reference to individual cases or by exploring emerging themes or patterns. We can also explore any 'issues' or dilemmas that exist within practice.
In terms of structure, I draw inspiration from Inskipp and Proctor (2001) and tend to focus on the following:
Restorative considerations - Being supportive and thinking about your wellbeing. Humanistic approach allowing ability to explore feelings.
Formative considerations - Helping and encouraging your to growth and develop as a professional. Sharing knowledge and recommendations
Normative considerations - Monitoring and discussing the way you work, ethical practice and the way that theory underpins your practice. Maintaining best practice
