Hi, my name is Mikko Hung, and I'm from Hong Kong. I worked for the Hong Kong Single Parents Association as a therapist soon after I attained my Master of Social Science in Counselling. Thus, I have acquired fruitful experience providing psychotherapy services to single parents and their children. Besides, I also have experience working with Ethnic Minorities and providing emotional support for people living with HIV. Over the years, I've supported clients with various issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, identity crisis, low self-esteem, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, grief, loss and change.
As an ethnic minority myself in the UK for a few years, I've been working with new migrants from Hong Kong and unaccompanied Asylum-seeking young people from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Sudan etc. Therefore, I'm aware of cultural and language barriers and can support people from different populations regardless of age, gender, social status, and sexual orientation. In addition, I've been providing online counselling services for diverse client groups since the Covid-19 pandemic, i.e. adults, couples, children & families, teenagers, new migrants and asylum-seekers. I committed to providing safe, confidential, and non-judgmental support to explore whatever might be troubling you.
Practice description
As an integrative therapist, I have skills and techniques for many different types of therapy, which I can tailor to your particular situation and needs. The most important thing to me is providing an open and non-judgemental space where you can feel free to explore whatever you need. My approach is warm, relaxed and collaborative. Therapy can be short term or open-ended, for as long as you find it beneficial. My first session
The initial session is a free 20-minute online session via zoom, WhatsApp video call or phone call to give you an opportunity to ask questions about the therapy process and how I can help. The relationship between us is key to successful therapy, and it is vital for us to feel we can work together and for you to feel comfortable with me. I offer a free initial session to allow you to meet with me with no obligation to continue. You can start to share what is troubling you, and we can explore how I can support you. We can decide whether I am the right therapist for you, and we can arrange follow-up sessions if you wish to continue with me.What I can help with
