About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Sue and I am a fully qualified, professional and experienced integrative counsellor. I understand how really difficult life can be. In fact, I know it can feel impossible to see a way forward sometimes. It can all seem hopeless. I can help.
I work with a variety of areas, but specialise in the following:
Working with loss of all kinds- particularly bereavement. Loss can include all kinds of things such as: employment, a future you thought you had that's been snatched away, home, children leaving home, identity, relationships, financial status, moving into retirement, to name a few! Any change in our lives can be so hard to process and manage. I'm passionate about working with loss as I have experience of bereavement and loss myself. I really understand how truly devastating it can be. This is what led me into becoming a counsellor.
Working with anxiety and depression
Working with all types of abuse (current and historical)
I have experience of how helpful and life changing good counselling can be in processing emotional pain and moving forward with your life. I love to see this happen for my clients too.
I believe that each client has very individual needs and therefore each approach is individual and tailored to my client. Counselling is all about the relationship between counsellor and client-you and me. I understand that taking the first step towards a calmer more tranquil life can be difficult. Talking things through in a confidential, non-judgemental, empathic and safe space can help to work through issues, break down barriers, make decisions about life and move forward finding the right path for a happier and more peaceful way of living.
Practice description
Working together with my clients I help them to identify issues, work out changes they may wish to make focussing on their values and what is important for them and work with them to help them to achieve their goals. I help clients to find therapeutic tools that work for them.
I know that life can be really tough. We all have issues at times in our lives. None of us escape it. It's normal. Maybe you are struggling with difficult feelings and emotions? Perhaps you feel lonely, overwhelmed or misunderstood. Maybe uncomfortable emotions, things from the past seem too scary to confront? Maybe you have a significant life change that has happened…
I offer a confidential space where you won't be judged and will be truly listened to and heard.
From personal experience I am aware how totally devastating, bereavement and loss can be. The constant daily feelings of loss of not only the person you have lost, but the future life you no longer have, can be overwhelming. I offer and hold onto hope for my clients when they feel they cannot for themselves.
Sessions cost £50-£60 per session, but there is some flexibility for concessionaries and less popular times.
If this all sounds like we would work well together, please get in touch.
My first session
I appreciate that beginning counselling can seem daunting, scary or unnerving, so I aim to make things as easy and relaxed as possible.
I offer a free - no obligation -30 minute telephone - informal conversation - for us to work out if we are a good fit. This will be an opportunity for you to ask me anything that you need to know about the process and for us to begin to get to know each other a little.
Our first session will include understanding the counselling process, working towards feeling more comfortable with each other and looking at the counselling contract and data privacy policy. It's normal to feel a bit anxious about this first session and to need to ask questions.
