About me and my therapy practice
With a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, I offer individual sessions face to face (in Bangor, Co. Down), via phone or online. Sessions are 50 minutes and I am able to offer short or long-term therapy depending on your need.
My background is in integrative therapy (person centred and psychodynamic) where you as the client choose what you want to talk about and together we work at understanding what your difficulties or challenges are and how we can resolve them. Also, by looking at your past experience and relationships, we often discover the key to understanding your present circumstances.
Practice description
At any time in our lives we may struggle to cope – this can be because of bereavement, breakdown of relationships, difficulties at work or loss of employment, physical illness, mental ill health such as anxiety or depression, traumatic experiences or just because we are not happy with life in general. For many of us, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated feelings of isolation and anxiety.
At such times, it can be helpful to talk to a counsellor who will listen with empathy, understanding and without judging you. I will provide you with a safe space in which to explore your difficulties and find your way through them.
My first session
Our first session will last for the usual 50 minutes. During it, I'll ask you about your particular circumstances and what you are hoping to gain from counselling. I'll explain in more detail how I work and, if we feel that I can be of help, we will agree our way forward.
