Availability
I currently have some availability for face-to-face sessions in my consulting room in Luton and the centre of St Albans.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced, friendly and empathic psychodynamic counsellor based in St Albans and Luton. I work with young adults through to older individuals on a one-to-one basis.
There are times in all our lives when we may experience emotional turbulence, distress, anxiety and feel overwhelmed, unsure how to proceed or who to confide in. Talking to a trusted, qualified counsellor, who knows you in no other capacity, can help you explore and reflect on your feelings in safety, gain insight and move forward. I offer a confidential, empathic and non-judgmental space for you to explore your emotional difficulties according to your individual needs and at your own pace.
I believe building a strong therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client is central to the outcome of counselling. Being a psychodynamic counsellor means that I will work alongside you to help you explore and make sense of your emotional difficulties in the present, by looking at links to your past relationships and experiences. Many of our current feelings, relationships and behaviour can be more clearly understood by this approach, leading to the potential for change and growth.
As a BACP registered counsellor, I work within the BACP’s Code of Ethics. My work is supervised in accordance with professional requirements and I have full indemnity insurance. I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) in order to uphold data protection.
Practice description
I have over 7 years’ experience of delivering both short-term and open-ended therapy to clients with a wide range of issues and difficulties.
As well as my private practice I am also a Clinical Manager for a charitable organisation that provides subsidised or low cost counselling to the local community as well as survivors of domestic or sexual abuse. I also work with NHS patients. I worked for several years at a bereavement charity.
I am experienced in working with clients from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Qualifications: BA Hons, Diploma & Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
