About me and my therapy practice
Are you a creative, sensitive, highly empathic soul finding life somewhat overwhelming at the moment?
Perhaps you are going through a challenging stage of your journey, doubting yourself, your choices and your capacity to move forward, or not quite knowing what it is that you most deeply want or need and feeling stuck?
Perhaps you would love support with navigating the complex terrain of your relationships and the pain that certain relational dynamics bring up for you?
Or it may also be that your relationship with self is the main issue of concern for you and something you would like to explore.
Whatever it is that you need support with - I would love to offer you a gentle, loving, allowing, deeply compassionate and trauma informed space to explore your inner and outer world in the safety of knowing that in this space nothing will be too weird, too dark, too eccentric, too boring, too little, too much, or not enough.
I invite you into a space, where all of your human experience and feelings will be honoured and welcome: not feeling anything, not knowing how you feel, fear, shame, grief, frustration, irritation, rage, envy, jealousy, mistrust, joy, delight, excitement, cheekiness, inspiration, dreaminess, love - and the myriad of nuanced feeling states in between.
Together, we will co-create the right conditions for you to connect to your innate resources, bring support, compassion and healing to places that feel stuck, conflicted, scary or confusing and explore different possibilities and ways forward.
As someone who spent most of my life feeling like I don't belong and trying to hide parts of myself that I deemed “not enough” or ugly, I feel passionate about supporting people who don't fit the mold on their journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance, healing and growth.
I recognise the unique challenges that having high sensitivity and nuanced perception in a very busy, loud world can bring - and would love to offer my expertise, skills, passion to serve you.
Practice description
My approach is trauma-informed, intuitive, creative and very much body-oriented: it touches deeper layers of the psyche than the usual talking therapy, yet is welcoming of creativity, play and laughter.
It is also relational - which means we get to co-create the process together, depending on what you need and require. Any given session may feel like a sanctuary, creative lab, playground, poem, time journey, retreat or something entirely different!
I believe in the healing power of playfulness and approaching even the deepest processes and feelings in the spirit of kindness, openness, courage, wonder and warm curiosity.
I also believe in the power of going slow and gently, with respect to the nervous system and the needs of the sensitive parts of our psyche, as opposed to pushing through and imposing a particular tempo or expectation on the individual's process.
People I work with have often commented on the sense of safety, authenticity, deep acceptance, gentleness, compassion, loving curiosity and sensitivity they have experienced from me.
While all spaces I hold are uniquely tailored to each individual soul, all of them are strongly informed by my trust in the wisdom of the person's intuitive being and the body that already has all the answers and keys to healing.
I am also very open to the transpersonal dimension of the therapeutic work and love bringing archetypes, oracle cards and Tarot into the exploration process, if the person is open to it.
In terms of formal qualifications - I am qualified in Gestalt counselling, body-art therapy and relational mindfulness facilitation. I am currently in the second year or the Somatic Experiencing training, and my perspective is informed by the many therapeutic and healing modalities I have trained in or studied over the years, including IFS, Family and Systemic Constellations, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Embodiment Facilitation, Authentic Relating, energy therapy and others.
My first session
The first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little bit more, explore how I can be of help and if my approach feels like the right fit.
I understand that meeting a therapist for the first time can be an anxiety-provoking experience, so will support you throughout the process.
Together, we will gently explore what brings you to therapy, what you might want and expect from this process, any fears you may have around it and what working with me might look like for you.
