About me and my therapy practice
We can use therapy to help us understand many things about ourselves and to work though any difficulties we may be experiencing. I totally appreciate the courage it takes to talk about these matters, and I respect that taking the first step towards counselling can be challenging. An initial phone call to discuss what is right for you may be the starting point.
I have over 25 years experience of working with individuals and couples, providing a non-judgemental space that will enable you to explore the issues you are finding difficult. Throughout this time I will support you on your journey to overcome the issues which are problematic for you.
Since qualifying as a counsellor many years ago, I have worked with thousands of clients with a variety of problems including: anxiety, stress, work related stress, living in domestic violence, relationship issues, bereavement, childhood sexual abuse, self harm etc. I am able to work in a time limited way offering focus to any work we do together or I can offer long term counselling. I believe you are the expert I see my role as supporting you in finding what you need from therapy.
I offer clinical supervision for counsellors and external supervision for team mangers.
My working life from 1995 until 2019 was based in Bradford West Yorkshire I was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mosaic a registered charity which offered support to families whose lives had been affected by sexual abuse. I was humbled and honoured to receive an MBE in the Queen's 2018 New Years Honours List for this work.
For approximately 20 months I worked part time for Safe Spaces a project facilitated by Victim Support offering support to clients who have experienced abuse within the church setting this was a pilot project which ended in January 2023.
I currently work in my private practice as a counsellor and supervisor from my home in Blyth offering flexible appointments either face to face or online to suit busy lives.
