About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced person-centered counsellor who enjoys learning about other modalities and has delivered over 1000 counselling sessions. I believe that the most important element for successful counselling is the therapeutic relationship. My hope is to work with you, talking through whatever may be troubling you and together finding a way for you to move forward.
Practice description
I work from a good sized room in the centre of Reading 5 minutes walk from the train station. My room is accessible for wheel chair users. Currently I only work face-to-face although I do have experience of working online.
The number of sessions you may need will vary and we will have regular reviews to reflect on how we feel the work is going. It may be that you only want a few sessions or it may be that you want longer term therapy. My aim is to work at your pace.
My first session
When you initially contact me we will book a time for a short phone call. This call will be a chance for you to talk about what your hopes for counselling are. Together we will decide whether I might be the right counsellor for you.
Your first face to face session is a chance for you to tell me a bit more about yourself and what you wish to talk about. I will let you know what you can expect from me and you can ask any questions, and talk about any concerns you may have about the counselling.
Often this first session can feel quite daunting, especially if it is your first experience of counselling. We will take it at your pace and you will not have to disclose everything about yourself at this stage. I recognise it might take a while for you to feel you can trust me.
