About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Claire and thank you for taking the time to find out a little bit more about me and what I have to offer.
If you’re reading this, I imagine life has got difficult, that you’re possibly feeling overwhelmed and not able to find a way forward. My aim in therapy is to offer you a safe space where you can look at what’s going on for you, explore what you want and find ways to manage this and move on.
I am a qualified and registered therapeutic counsellor and I work in an integrative style, which means that I use a number of modalities and resources to meet your needs. I look at you as a whole person, considering your mental, physical and emotional health and my aim is to build a trusting and non-judgmental relationship in which you feel empowered to find acceptance and supported to make the changes you want.
You may be feeling a bit sceptical about counselling and what it can do to help but in looking for a counsellor, you have started a positive process in which you can make changes to improve your life, whatever it has thrown at you, and I would feel privileged to work with alongside you in this.
I currently work for a charity providing counselling services to families whose children face cancer and other life-threatening conditions, for Heads Together, a young person's counselling service in Surrey and I also run a private practice in Dorking, Surrey.
Practice description
My practice is flexible in that I offer short term, time-limited or long term open-ended counselling - depending on what is right for you.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and I work either online via Zoom or face to face, in Dorking, Surrey.
My first session
If in reading this, you feel I may be able to help you on your journey, please do get in touch. I offer a free initial consultation either online or by telephone, which gives us the opportunity to meet, get to know each other and decide if we could work well together.
During our first session I will find out more about you, what's going on for you and what you would like to achieve from counselling. I also go through my counselling agreement which sets out what you can expect from sessions with me.
