About me and my therapy practice

If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, abuse, bereavement, anger or relationship issues. I can support you by offering a non-judgmental and confidential environment where you feel safe to talk and explore the feelings behind the issues that may be stopping you from moving forwards with your life.

I am an integrative counsellor and my approach is based on a wide variety of methods and expertise that can help you access your strengths and abilities to overcome your challenges.

I understand that it might be uncomfortable to get some help and talk about your struggles and uncomfortable feelings, both past and present, in therapy. However, sharing your concerns with a compassionate and understanding therapist can encourage you to be in charge of your own healing process.

I have extensive experience of working with a diverse range of clients and issues. My areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, low confidence, anger, addiction and eating disorders.

My early professional background is in social work, supporting a wide range of clients such as asylum seekers, survivors of rape, bullying and abuse, adults with anxiety, depression, work and relationship issues and learning disabilities. I have over 15 years experience supporting adults and young people suffering from drug addiction and young mothers suffering from postnatal depression. My dealings with my clients have given me a greater understanding of the difficulties faced in people’s everyday lives. I draw on this experience when working with my clients.

About me and my therapy practice

Feeling Lost or Overwhelmed? You Deserve to Feel Better.

Anxiety, depression, or just not yourself? You're not alone. I'm Raquel, a therapist providing a safe space to explore emotions and develop coping skills. We'll work together to understand your thoughts, feelings, and how they impact you. This self-awareness empowers you to manage emotions and navigate challenges effectively.

Here's how I can help:

Reduce Anxiety & Depression: We'll find the root causes and create personal plans to manage them, fostering calmness.

Improve Relationships: Explore past experiences to build healthier connections.

Build Self-Esteem: Overcome harsh self-criticism and develop self-compassion.

Manage Anger: Learn to identify triggers and express anger assertively.

Break Free from Unhealthy Habits: Explore the root causes and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

We can also navigate grief, understand your past to empower your present, and unveil the roots of anxiety. Therapy can be a mirror to real-life relationships, offering valuable insights to build more fulfilling connections outside of therapy.

Practice description

My approach is collaborative and integrative:

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, I believe in tailoring therapy to your unique needs and goals. Think of it like building a toolbox - we'll gather different tools (techniques) from various therapy approaches to create the perfect set for you.

Here's how we'll work together:

Talking it Out: We'll start by talking about why you're here and what you'd like to achieve. Understanding your perspective helps me create a plan that works for you.

Finding the Right Tools: There are many therapy approaches, like:

Understanding Your Past: We can explore how your past experiences might be affecting your present.

Challenging Negative Thoughts: If negative thoughts are causing issues, we can learn ways to challenge them and develop more positive thinking.

Focusing on the Present: Techniques like meditation can help you stay present and manage stress better.

Building Your Toolbox: We'll choose techniques from different approaches to create a personalised plan for you.

Working Together: Sometimes I might challenge your perspective to help you grow. This is always done with your best interests in mind. Open communication and working together are key!

A Safe Space: Therapy is a safe place to be yourself, free from judgment. I'll listen actively and support you throughout your journey.

By exploring how you interact with me in therapy, we can gain insights into how you interact with others outside of therapy, ultimately helping you build stronger relationships.

I offer short and long-term counselling face-to-face, online or by telephone .
