About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for being here, it's a great step to reach out for support and I aim to make this experience as comfortable as possible for you. You may be in a place in your life where you no longer wish to feel the way you do. Or perhaps no longer wish to carry around what is weighing you down at the moment. Whether you've noticed these changes in yourself recently or having been experiencing them for a long time, I aim to support you as best I can. With over 3000 hours of experience I aim to help you explore what is on your mind, offer new perspectives and help you to manage and cope with life’s difficulties.
My experience consists of 5 years experience working in a university counselling service with student from 2018 - 2023. I also have experience working with the charity Victim Support, supporting clients experiencing traumatic grief.
I specialise in working with clients who may be struggling in the following areas:
- Life transitions (coping with these changes)
- Relationships (whether this be romantic, family or friends)
- Grief and bereavement
- Loss
- Struggling to be the person you want to be
My main area of expertise is working with clients aged 18-45 where I aim to support you in what it means to navigate the world as a young person today.
I do not work with clients under the age of 18.
It is never easy taking this first step, but it can be the first step to living the life you want to through receiving therapeutic support. If you feel like you can and would like to arrange an initial free consultation, find out my current availability or have any questions for me please contact me via my profile or email address. Thank you.
Practice description
I would describe my counselling practice as person centered whilst integrating other areas of my expertise and experience in order to best support you in what you need right now. What that means is I aim to support you in all aspects of what you are experiencing, and not apply how you feel to anyone else. I try not to limit down your experience to a series of thoughts and behaviours, but rather the whole of you, and how your past experiences may be affecting your current self. I aim to create a warm, safe space where you can hopefully feel held enough to share your difficulties and vulnerabilities currently. As a woman in my early 30 years I can appreciate and support you in what it means to be a young person today, navigating life through the lens of someone in the earlier stages of their life. I help see clients therefore through significant periods of life change, sometimes for the first time. I can as a result help you apply your existing tools to cope with your mental health and explore new ones in order to manage the challenges you are experiencing.
My first session
Following a free 30 minute initial consultation on the phone or Zoom, if we feel like the right fit for each other and you are ready to start counselling we will arrange our first session together. In the first session we can use this as an introduction to therapy, where we may explore your background, what you are hoping to gain from therapy and how you are doing now since our first conversation. We will look at goals of therapy and outline a rough plan of what we can start with. After 6 sessions we will review our work so far together, and whether you wish to continue/what we could look at next.
