About me and my therapy practice
It can feel like a big decision to come into counselling, some issues feel too big and others too small...as a qualified experienced counsellor I am able to create a safe, non-judgemental space to explore, whatever your issue may be. I believe that by building a supportive honest relationship together I can help you become more familiar with your patterns of behaviour and it is through self-awareness that you can begin to live more choicefully.
I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation to see how we could work together.
I trained at Metanoia Institute and hold a BSc and diploma in Humanistic Counselling. I am also a registered member of the BACP.
Practice description
I take a holistic approach and value your individuality and your context – after all we all live complex lives. I believe ultimately you are your own best expert, but you might have just got a bit stuck somewhere and exploring together can help shift that stuckness.
I draw on a variety of theoretical perspectives, creative explorations and practical tools to help you better understand yourself. I am also BWY qualified yoga teacher and can work with mindfulness and mediation as another form of support.
I have experience of open ended and time limited therapy and have worked in both counselling organisations and an NHS setting.
My first session
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other - the relationship between the therapist and client is the most important factor in determining the success of the therapy. You can tell me a bit about what has brought you here now and what you hope to achieve through therapy. It's also a chance for you to ask me some questions about therapy, what to expect and how we will work.
I offer this first meeting as a 30 minute free session.
We can then decide if we want to set up further sessions. I usually suggest we initially meet for 4 sessions and then we can review to see where you are.
