Welcome. Life can be difficult at times, and can leave us feeling overwhelmed, confused or alone.
You may be struggling with bereavement and loss; childhood related issues and challenges within the family dynamic; abusive or controlling relationships; you may struggle with feelings of stress, anxiety, depression and have suicidal thoughts.
Speaking to an impartial, trained professional can provide a valuable source of support through these distressing times.
I take a person-centred approach to counselling, a space for you to reflect and explore your world, without judgement or instruction. Instead, I will support you in your exploration so that you may find your own meaning and a way forward. Person-centred counselling is an empowering experience of personal discovery, which provides the tools needed for continued growth long after therapy has ended.
Eating disorders
My work as a therapist, along with personal experience, has ignited a need to understand the complexities of this topic more fully, therefore I have undergone extensive training in eating disorders and disordered eating at The National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED).

- you are secretive about what you eat/don’t eat, maybe vomiting or using laxatives to avoid gaining weight?

I fully understand the nerves which surround finding a counsellor, therefore I aim to make the process as comfortable as possible. The most important thing is that you find a therapist that you like and feel comfortable with. I offer a 20-minute phone call which gives us the opportunity to discuss your needs and expectations of therapy and work out if we are a good fit.
Once therapy is agreed, it is also important to consider which method of communication fits you best. I offer face-to-face sessions from my office in Kelsall, Tarporley, but if you would prefer, we have to option to work remotely, either via Zoom or over the phone.
Specialist eating disorder work
A holistic approach within a humanistic framework, which uses a vast range of practical interventions and nutritional rehabilitation guidance to support change and recovery from eating distress, teaching you the skills and techniques to use between sessions. You will have the opportunity to explore your relationship with food and be helped to make sense of your experiences and underlying issues which are keeping you stuck, so that you can engage more freely and fully in life.
Recovery will mean changing eating behaviours which can be a scary prospect for someone with an eating disorder. While this can feel daunting, the aim of recovery is to fight that fear and regain a healthy relationship with food and yourself. I will help you change your habits, your mindset & lifestyle.
Prior to our first session, you will receive a welcome pack with all the information you will need to make an informed decision before you commit to therapy. There will also be a questionnaire for you to complete before we meet, so I can start to gain an understanding of your relationship with food.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and start at £50.

At the start of our first session, I will take some time to answer any questions you may still have and check your understanding of our therapeutic agreement.
