I work mainly online via zoom as well as by telephone as I am not always in the same place each week. If you are looking for face to face sessions I am happy to put you on my waiting list or recommend other local counsellors if I am aware of any with space at the time of enquiry.
I am able to offer flexibility in the number of sessions and whether these are weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Most clients start with weekly sessions and move to fortnightly and then monthly as the work progresses
About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified and BACP registered counsellor as well as an experienced coach trained and qualified by Cambridge University. I am therefore able to work a little differently from other counsellors. I also understand from experience how much courage it can take to seek help when life gets difficult.
Based on my experience and qualifications my standard session rate for individuals is £85 for 60 minutes. I appreciate that counselling is a very big commitment in terms of both time and money and I will do my best to help you get the most out of this investment in yourself. I can offer flexibility in terms of weekly, fortnightly and monthly sessions.
In my couples therapy work I am able to offer a mix of both joint and individual sessions which are tailored to address the needs of each relationship. Sessions are £140 for 90 minutes. I am qualified with Relate to offer relationship counselling, I also draw on the Gottman Method of couples therapy and other approaches which can significantly reduce conflict and improve communication and connection. Where couples decide to separate I can offer a process called Conscious Uncoupling which is very beneficial, particularly when children are involved.
I am passionate about helping people grow their sense of self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence.
I listen but I don't only listen! I am also available to offer principles, skills and strategies which can help not only with current situations but which are also designed to last a lifetime. If you would like them I am able to offer free resources for you to work on in-between sessions, and which will be tailored to your individual needs and goals.
Practice description
I work with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship breakdown and recovery, including infidelity and sexual difficulties. I have extensive training in other areas and I am happy to talk with you and discuss your needs.
In addition to working as a counsellor I have previous experience in the corporate world as a senior manager and subsequently in running my own business, including managing staff and working as a coach and mentor. I therefore understand the pressures and stresses of being both employed and self employed. I have also been through my own personal experiences of divorce, relationship recovery and raising children who are now young adults, so I am well versed in life’s many challenges. I have personal experience of receiving coaching and therapy which is what has motivated me to train in the work I do now.
Alongside working in private practice I volunteer for charities specialising in bereavement, addiction recovery and in helping young people to grow their self-esteem and self-confidence.
I am qualified to work with adults, young people and couples therapy. My training and professional qualifications include:
CPCAB accredited Diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling for Adults, including CBT and ACT, and Working with Children and Young People.
University of Cambridge Certification in Coaching
Thriving Adolescent Training
Relate Certificate in Relational Counselling for Couples and Gottman Levels 1 & 2 Couples Therapy.

Shame and Early Relational Trauma and Inner Child and Attachment Theory

Anger, Stress Management and Emotional Resilience
Enneagram coaching - personality profiling and personal development planning
My first session
In your first session we will review your hopes, goals and expectations for counselling, along with any previous experiences, concerns and questions you might have.
It is important that you are able to develop a relationship of trust with your counsellor and I take this responsibility very seriously. In our first sessions it is important that you decide if I am the right person for you.
My own personal experience of therapy is that whilst listening is very important many clients want and need more than just to talk. I therefore offer a confidential, empathetic and non-judgemental space for you to discuss anything you need to process as well as offering resources which will help you to make changes in areas of your life which are not working for you. I offer principles, strategies and skills which can help you to grow in your understanding of yourself and others. I can also offer guidance to work through current situations in a way which will translate to a broader application for your life in general.
I am happy to offer and suggest free resources to support you between sessions and which are tailored to your specific needs and goals on request.
I have worked with adolescents in a school counselling environment as well as in bereavement and addiction recovery counselling and for the relationship/ marriage guidance charity "Relate". I continue to volunteer a proportion of my time.
Types of therapy
Brief therapy, CBT, Cognitive, Emotionally focused therapy, Existential, Gestalt, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred, Psychodynamic, Relational, Solution focused brief therapy, Systemic, Transactional analysis, Transpersonal
