About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I know looking for a therapist can be daunting. If we work together, you can expect our sessions to be warm, approachable, and jargon-free. When it comes down to it, counselling is about having a meaningful conversation about the things that are most important to you.
I offer a confidential, non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and work through what’s on your mind. We can work together for a small number of sessions, or something longer-term.
Counselling is all about helping you to unpick and overcome the things that are making you feel stuck. I won’t tell you what to do, or make decisions for you. I’ll do a lot of listening and some gentle questioning. We’re in this together.
Being a therapist doesn't give me all the answers - I’m a work in progress too, and life can always throw the unexpected into the mix.
But, in my experience, counselling can be moving, challenging, thought-provoking, and freeing - no matter what stage of life we’re at, or how settled or ‘messy’ we feel.
If this chimes with you, chances are we would work well together.
Practice description
I draw on a variety of different approaches to suit each person and situation, but my core training is in Transactional Analysis (TA), which is based on an open and equal partnership between the client and the counsellor.
TA helps us to explore the way that our life experiences and childhood shape the decisions we make, as well as the limitations we put on ourselves.
Counselling can help us to notice the way our decisions have shaped our lives, and give us the opportunity to make different choices.
I know first hand how powerful and life-changing therapy can be, as I’ve spent plenty of time in the ‘client chair’ myself over the years, as part of my training.
My first session
The half-price initial consultation is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss what you are looking for from counselling, and to see whether we click. There’s no obligation to enter therapy with me after this session.
In the consultation, we will have a wide-ranging conversation about your history, what has brought you to counselling, and what you are hoping to get out of therapy.
If you decide to go ahead with therapy, all your counselling sessions are tailored to you and your goals. We’ll work at a pace that feels right for you, and I will check in with you regularly about how you feel it’s going.
