To arrange an appointment, please contact me by e-mail or Text, or via my website, giving your name, contact details & a brief description of what area of difficulty you are experiencing & if it's ok for me to leave a message for you. I will come back to you as soon as possible, normally within 24 hours. I offer an initial free of charge telephone call of approximately 20-30 minutes to gather some basic information about you and learn more about what area in your life is currently causing you distress & for you to decide if would feel comfortable working with me.
About me and my therapy practice
Working online, I offer a confidential, safe & non-judgemental space for adults at any stage of their lives. I work with you to reduce emotional distress, whatever the cause, either current or historical. I work with self-esteem, confidence issues, anxiety, stress, sadness, confusion &/or if you have or are facing losses through bereavement, redundancy, separation, divorce or other major life changes. I feel nothing that bothers you is insignificant and will take it seriously. I can also offer long-term support if so required.
My interests are in a variety of areas, including bereavement, childhood abuse, feminist issues, interpersonal relationship issues (family disagreements, marriage/partnership) plus work related stress. I also have an interest & understanding in what it is like for people living with those who have a diagnosis of Autism, Narcissistic Behaviours or Borderline Personality Disorder. I also work with those trying to mask Autistic behaviours & the challenges of everyday living.
As a qualified Humanistic Counsellor/Therapist & a qualified Online & Telephone counsellor, I believe that quality 1-1 care delivered in the comfort of your own home or private office space offers a time-saving, anxiety reducing, confidential service wherever you may be in the UK, whilst face-to-face sessions are limited to the Waterlooville, Hants, area.
All that is required is computer or Smartphone access & I can talk you through the setting up process by telephone.
Sessions are £55.00 per 50 minutes (standard Counselling hour). Reductions are also available for advance payment of block booked sessions, please ask.
Fees may be negotiable depending on your circumstances, please ask.
I am able to offer very limited hours of face-to-face sessions except as home visits for which an extra charge is required.
Practice description
After leaving health research, (some years in mental health), moving from psychology into counselling over the last 20 years (volunteering initially with Cruse Bereavement Care, & also The Bereavement Counselling Charity) I chose to start my own private practice to offer more flexibility for both clients & myself.
I hold a BSc. in Psychology (1997) an MSc in Health Psychology (2001) which included health counselling & a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling (2020). I therefore bring both experience and recent education to my work. During Covid I moved to Online & Telephone counselling continuing with counselling without putting myself or others at risk. Clients have found it highly successful & I no longer offer face-to-face sessions except in special circumstances or for those needing home visits. I also continue to update & upgrade my knowledge through courses & reading.
I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) & a registered member of British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP no. 385060) & comply with their Ethics, Guidelines & Complaints procedure. I hold an ACTO recognised qualification in On-line & Telephone counselling.
I keep records in accordance with legal requirements, & am GDPR registered (ZB053419). Confidentiality is of the utmost importance to me, 1 set of records only are retained in a locked filing cabinet (not on computer) for the period stipulated by my insurance company (currently 7 years) before shredding & safe disposal. I am supervised by a highly experienced, qualified professional supervisor who ensures my practice is both appropriate ðical.
As a Humanistic Practitioner, using Person-Centred & Gestalt approaches, meaning you are at the centre of your therapy; we work together on whatever you choose to bring. I work in a confidential, non-judgemental way working with Bi clients as well as traditional marriage & partnership difficulties.
My first session
Initially, we will have a brief no-charge telephone conversation to take a few details and get an outline of what you are looking for from sessions. Please include an email, text or telephone contact for me to get back to you & how/when would be best for you to hear back. It is my intention to be as transparent as possible in my work. I use a non-directive, non-judgemental, Humanistic approach, Person-centred & Gestalt, offering a safe space to discuss issues which may benefit from an objective view.
ALL SESSIONS ARE ON-LINE unless home visits by special arrangement.
Sessions are £55.00 payable 48 hours in advance by bank transfer and are normally on a weekly basis at a mutually agreed time, although longer sessions may be available if you feel that may be more appropriate for you. Once we have built a working relationship I would be happy to offer fortnightly sessions if you preferred, or drop in, 1 off sessions to meet a specific need. Long or Short term counselling is available.
Please discuss it with me if you would like shorter sessions or have financial concerns.
Please contact me initially by text or e-mail if you would like any further information, including your name, telephone number &/or e-mail suggesting a convenient day/time for me to make initial contact. I aim to get back to you within 24 hours. There is no obligation to take things further at this stage unless you wish to do so.
Home visits locally (Waterlooville/Cosham/Havant areas) may be available under certain circumstances at a slightly higher fee, to cover travel costs. Please ask.
