About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering long and short term in-person and video call counselling for individual adults and couples.
Clay Counselling offers you a space to talk about whatever is important to you at the time, at a pace that feels right for you.
All of our experiences shape who we are today. We all have patterns and ways of behaving, thinking and feeling - some of these we’re aware of and some we aren’t. During counselling, you’ll have the opportunity to explore and make sense of your current situation, relationships, thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviours. By thinking about how you’ve been shaped by your previous experiences, relationships and difficult life events, a greater understanding of yourself emerges; with this awareness it becomes easier to accept the person you are, change what you would like to change and grow as a person.
By you and I building a trusting, safe relationship together, you’ll have a place to feel heard, valued and find meaning without judgement. This can lead to different and healthier ways of responding to situations and relationships, a feeling of being more whole, acceptance of yourself, greater self-esteem, and more confidence and happiness in life.
I also work with couples to provide a safe, non-judgemental space for both people to be heard. I help couples to understand what is causing the issues and problems within their relationship, then I support couples to find better ways of moving forward.
Practice description
I offer open-ended and fixed term psychotherapeutic counselling on a short, medium and long term basis.
I offer face-to-face, online video call and walk & talk counselling around the Worthing area. I work with individual adults and couples.
My first session
Before our first session we will have a brief email or telephone discussion to make sure my availability and cost works for you, and to answer any questions you may have.
The first session will then last approximately 1 hour. In this session I will explain more about the way I work and find out a little more about you and what brings you to counselling. Together we will decide whether psychotherapeutic counselling is right for you and you will have time after the first session to decide if I am a good fit for you.
If we decide to go ahead, we will agree on a weekly time for your counselling, which will be for 50 minutes for individuals and 1 hour for couples, normally at the same time each week. If you decide not to go ahead, I will help you with your next step.
