About me and my therapy practice
We can all struggle with issues in our lives that make us feel stuck, disempowered, and disconnected. If you're looking for support in making positive changes for yourself and the people around you, I may be able to help. Get in touch for an initial conversation to explore how we can work together. I can provide an empathic and non-judgemental relationship in which you can explore the deeper truths of your situation and discover ways to move through your issues and find your own way forward. As an integrative practitioner, I can effectively tailor my approach to suit you.
I currently work online, via telephone and face-to-face from Holmfirth.
Please note: I am an approved therapist for the following insurance providers: Bupa, AXA, Aviva, VitalityHealth
Practice description
As an Integrative Therapist with an Interpersonal approach, I focus on building a therapeutic relationship with the people I work with and flexibly tailor my interventions to each individual with respect to their unique character and needs.
My focus is on the interpersonal aspects of human experience, with an understanding of the importance of relationships for a healthy and fulfilling life; this includes your relationship with others and with yourself, and thus I believe a balanced focus on an individual's internal and external experience is key.
I help my clients to learn more helpful and skillful ways to manage their own emotions and to understand their own behaviour and the behaviour of others, in order to adapt and develop more confidence and competence in dealing with challenging emotions and difficult situations.
I use creative techniques where this feels right and collaborate with my clients to adapt my approach throughout the work. I value feedback and encourage personal autonomy and empowerment in the relationship.
I enjoy working with young people as well as adult clients and am passionate about helping people to move towards greater well-being and more fulfilling and connected lives.
I am fully accredited with the BACP and have helped people with depression, anxiety, grief, anger, self-esteem, and various other issues. I also have specialist training in working with young people (children / teenagers) and have trained with the NHS as an accredited practitioner of Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents (IPT-A).
I am currently training in EMDR therapy, and am offering this specialist intervention for clients as part of my training. This equips me with specialist interventions and expertise to work with trauma and complex trauma. EMDR allows me and my clients another avenue to accelerate healing and recovery, which can help anyone who may be feeling stuck in patterns from formative past experiences.
My first session
I offer a 15-minute initial call to provide an opportunity for you to decide if you would like to work with me. This is an informal chat free from expectations, judgments, or commitments.
Should you choose to work with me, our first session will then involve a more in-depth exploration of your problems and needs as well as start to build the trust and rapport that our relationship will be based upon.
It can be hard to reach out, and it's often the hardest part, so take this small step and it could be the first on a productive journey for positive change.
