About me and my therapy practice
Hello I'm Emma, I am a qualified and experienced Humanistic Integrative Counsellor. I offer face-to-face counselling at Anahata Health Clinic in Kemptown.
I have a special interest in helping clients with anxiety, and also see clients with a range of other concerns such as depression, relationship issues, grief, low self-esteem, chronic illness, and trauma.
I offer a calm, compassionate and confidential space where you can talk about difficult or painful experiences, thoughts and feelings. Clarifying feelings and being more self-aware can help you find a way forward in difficult times, whether this is by seeing your options more clearly or by making the necessary changes you want to make.
Humanistic counselling encourages self-awareness, self-development, and seeks to help you recognise your strengths, creativity and choices in life.
Integrative counselling means using a blend of theories, and I use Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). It’s a bespoke therapy to suit your personal needs.
Contact me for a free consultation.
Practice description
Please get in touch initially by email, and give an outline of why you would like counselling. I will then arrange a time to talk so you can ask any questions you may have and also to see if you feel comfortable talking to me. This initial consultation is free of charge. Then we can arrange a date for a session. I normally suggest coming at the same time each week.
My first session
The process then begins with an Assessment Form which asks you questions about yourself and why you want to come for counselling. I will also send you an Agreement which has some information about counselling, confidentiality, payment and cancellation details. I ask for these forms to be completed before your first session.
You choose how long you want to come to for. Sometimes the process can take time, but with a regular review, this helps to stay focused.
