About me and my therapy practice
We all have times in our lives which can feel overwhelming. Sometimes we feel stuck or as though we are repeating past events or relationship patterns. Other times we may feel like we are being haunted by the past and unable to live fully in the present.
I offer a warm and non-judgemental space where we can explore together what is happening for you. I will listen to you, help you think about the issues you are facing and help you be with difficult feelings. Over time you will deepen your understanding of how you relate to yourself, other people, and the world around you. I hope this will help you discover new ways of living your life more fully and with greater freedom.
I trained at the Minster Centre, one of Europe’s leading integrative counselling and psychotherapy training institutes. As an integrative therapist, I draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit your needs. In my previous career I was a finance professional. This gives me an insight into what it is like to work in a highly competitive and cognitive environment, with an appreciation of the possible impact of the lack of creative output on living your life.
My first session
Once you get in touch with me, we can arrange for an initial consultation, either face to face or online. Hi, my name is Milou (she/her). Whatever brought you here, welcome.
Our world is difficult to live in. Many of us are disconnected from ourselves, each other, all other life on earth and the land that we live on. We are separated by roads, walls, technology, the competitiveness of late stage capitalism and the busyness and overwhelm of modern life. Our planet is in crisis and we lack communal spaces to come together to be with what is happening.
In therapy we can be with the impact of all or some of this on you. We can explore how you may have adapted to what you have faced in your life and how this may not be working for you. We can find out what you might be stuck in, help you reconnect, and find ground in overwhelm. I can meet you in your shame, grief and rage. We can look at how your past and the lives of previous generations may be impacting you now.
All parts of you are welcome as we find new ways of being in the world which work for you.
Practice description
I work outdoors, indoors and occasionally online. Our work can be a mixture of all or some of these, depending on what works for you.
I generally work on a long term and open ended basis, mostly once a week, sometimes twice a week. If you feel that something other than this would work better for you, then let me know and we can explore together.
Integrative Therapy
I have an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy, which includes training in body psychotherapy, humanistic psychotherapy, trauma methods, attachment theory and contemporary relational psychoanalysis. I draw on different ways of working as feels relevant to help us explore what might be happening for you.
Wild Therapy
Being a Wild Therapist forms the ground of my work. Wild Therapy recognises our interconnectedness with all life and includes this in our exploration of our relationality. By inviting us to step into the web of life, rather than looking at it from the outside, we practice connecting to our wild selves, to our capacity to be fully alive within ourselves and to the world.
Outdoor Therapy
Working outdoors can include walking side by side in a park or woodland, sitting on a bench or under a tree. It can also include connecting with our surroundings; with the trees, plants, soil, birds, bugs, squirrels, foxes, with the rain, sun, wind and anything else we might encounter.
My first session
Have a look at my website for more information, and get in touch if you would like to explore working together.
