About me and my therapy practice
I am a Registered Member of the BACP and an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have a BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology, MA in Human Resource Management and a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I began my counselling journey by training as a Samaritans volunteer.
I have worked for a number of public and private sector organisations, including 2 years as a Psychotherapist for a domestic violence counselling service and 3.5 years working for UK health and wellbeing organisations - supporting clients using short term models of therapeutic intervention to help alleviate distress.
I value individuality. I recognise that starting therapy can be daunting and my role as counsellor is to help you feel comfortable enough to talk about things concerning you, and to support you in making choices and decisions that are manageable for you. I offer a confidential space to talk about your thoughts and feelings openly. Lived experience has inspired me to support clients to lead more fulfilling lives.
I offer short and long-term counselling to adults.
Practice description
My approach is predominantly Person-Centred. I believe the relationship is formed between you and I - it is a collaboration. I also offer solution-focused brief therapy if appropriate and manageable for the client - with a Person-centred focus at all times. I practice in a way which is individual to each person. I work with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, suicidal ideation, domestic abuse, complex trauma, work-related stress, and bereavement, including bereavement by suicide. I offer a confidential non-judgemental safe space, which allows for an exploration of self at your own pace.
My first session
The initial 20-minute online or telephone consultation/assessment is free. This is an opportunity to explore what your expectations of counselling are, ask any questions and perhaps most importantly see if I'm the right therapist for you. Please email me for consultation availability.
Subsequent counselling sessions are 50 minutes in length.
