About me and my therapy practice
Hello & Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my page.
I am qualified as an adult integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I am also experienced in working with children and young people (extensive experience of working with university, college and secondary school students).
So far, I have worked in a variety of settings such as: local counselling services, women's counselling centre and as a full-time student counsellor in primary schools, high schools, sixth forms and colleges.
My approach to counselling is 'integrative'. This means that I am trained to combine cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), attachment theory and person-centred theory.
During my time in practice, I have supported clients who have struggled with a range of mental health difficulties such as; low self-esteem/self-worth/self-confidence, attachment, self-awareness, difficulties or breakdown of family or romantic relationships, grief, loss and bereavement, anxiety, low mood, low motivation, stress, body image, eating difficulties and low – medium level trauma.
I have also worked with many South Asian clients who experience difficulties with identity, family and cultural issues and particularly for clients who reside in the West. Although I value and stay connected with my ethnic background, I am also aware of the difficulties and issues which individuals from a South Asian background may face. I can also relate and empathise with how these issues may impact an individual's mental health, lifestyle and choices.
Practice description
OUTSIDE OF BEING A THERAPIST:
I spend my free time with friends and family whilst also giving importance to time alone for self-care. I enjoy studying English Literature, cooking, reading, home/event decor and planning.
I am also enthusiastic about travelling as this is allows me to explore the world and learn about various cultures, cuisines and languages.
I was born and raised in the UK but have maintained a close connection with my culture and roots. I therefore have an in-depth understanding of Western & South Asian culture and lifestyle.
My first session
What to expect from your first session:
Once I have received your enquiry, I will aim to reply to you within 2 working days.
I offer a free 10 minute telephone consultation call to answer any questions that you may have. I also use this time to explain how I work in counselling.
If you decide to start counselling with me, I will email you a welcome letter, next steps and my therapeutic contract. The contract will need to be read and signed before your first counselling session.
During our first counselling session, I will introduce myself and show you around the premises so that you are comfortable with the space and setting. We will also complete an assessment form which includes taking some personal details and exploring your motivations and counselling goals.
