About me and my therapy practice
Why therapy?
Most of us seek counselling when the ways we've been coping with life are no longer working. We may have experienced events that have affected us more deeply than expected. Perhaps we feel stuck, numb or unhappy with an aspect of our identity or role. Maybe we've noticed a sense of dissonance within our sense of self, our relationships and responsibilities, keeping us from where we'd like to be.
What you bring to therapy is uniquely yours - your story, goals, history and insights. I offer a safe, comfortable and confidential place where your story can be untangled and redefined, walking alongside you as you rebuild your sense of self in a resilient and compassionate manner.
Background
I began my therapeutic journey when I chose psychology as my undergraduate degree. I have been drawn to the way we experience and explore the world and ourselves since an early age, and that only helped to fan the flames. This led me to specialise in transcultural counselling, which focuses on the interactions we have with our social networks, culture and environment. I worked as a children and young person's counsellor for 5 years in Malta, before moving to Aberdeen where I offer therapy to young people and adults to support their wellbeing in an empathic, confidential and caring way.
I am drawn to creative techniques that allow us to connect with our inner child, and work on improving our internal conversation through mindfulness.
Practice description
My practice and process
We will have an initial introductory session during which I will gain an understanding of you and the issues impacting your wellbeing. We may agree on a number of sessions together, and discuss the therapeutic framework and process. I will answer any questions you may have about our sessions and welcome your feedback.
I am currently offering video and telephone sessions as a safe alternative for face-to-face therapy.
