About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative psychotherapist based in the Burscough area of West Lancashire. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I have a professional interest in the treatment of trauma and addiction.
I understand that we all may need some support now and again as life’s struggles can often impact how we are feeling. We may experience symptoms of anxiety, low mood, or stress. Have self-esteem issues; issues in our relationships, experienced the loss of a loved one, trauma from our childhood, in the present or within our job role.
We often use coping strategies that we feel are helpful but these may develop into unhealthy strategies that could be making our symptoms worse.
I think talking things through with someone who is independent to your life, non-judgmental, empathic and has your best interests at heart is invaluable. I can offer you this in a safe and confidential environment where we can explore your issues together.
I have 20 years’ experience working in Blue Light Services and I appreciate the unique working environment that this involves.
Practice description
I am based in Lathom House Consulting Rooms, in the Burscough area of West Lancashire.
I use an integrative approach to counselling to ensure the client receives the most appropriate and effective support for them. I have trained in Person Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy skills and theory, Rewind Therapy, Single Session Therapy and Trauma Focused CBT.
Once we have had an initial telephone consultation, we can discuss how we will work together and what the next steps will be.
Everything will be done at a pace you feel comfortable with and we will regularly review how the sessions are going to ensure we are focusing on the issues that are impacting you the most.
I have experience of working with emergency services personnel and veterans.
Please feel free to contact me via email or telephone for availability and fees. You can also visit my website www.slgcounsellingservices.co.uk.
My first session
I know how difficult the first step in seeking some support can be and the most important thing in counselling is the bond between the client and the therapist. We are all unique and with that in mind it is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and establish a connection with them to build a therapeutic relationship.
I believe this to be fundamental, so I offer the first half an hour telephone consultation free. This way you can get to know a little bit about me and how I can support you. If after that you feel like we can work together, we can discuss the next steps moving forward.
