About me and my therapy practice
Every now and then, we may need to make sense of our lives or an aspect of it. Seeking counselling may be an essential first step towards helping yourself rediscover or unlock the real you.
I am here to listen and work with you in a person-centred way. This means you will be the main focus of our sessions. To explore where you are at and what you may want or need to understand regarding something that may have been troubling you. I am a trained Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Practitioner (CBT). This means we can use CBT to collaboratively work together on the goals you may eventually set for yourself and learn to maintain. We can also work together in an integrative way, using some aspects of other counselling disciplines. This can enhance our work together in relation to you as the individual and your uniqueness.
Together we can explore how you are feeling, the possible changes you may be ready to achieve, learn or unlearn. If you do not feel fully ready for change, that is okay too. Just knowing someone cares to listen; feeling you have been heard can be helpful.
If you feel anxious or depressed, I am here to listen and learn about what you may be able to share.
I have gained over 25 years of valuable experience as a worker in the diverse public sector environment. It has been a privilege offering assistance and support to valued workers in need, whilst they find their way.
Sometimes just talking it through, be it work-related issues, exclusion, harassment or talking generally, helps to alleviate moments of sadness, overwhelm, stress, anxiety, negative overthinking or unhelpful thoughts.
Practice description
I currently offer online and telephone counselling.
My approach is integrative. Based in person-centred therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with aspects of Psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis.
Sessions can be flexible, short-term or long-term.
Our therapeutic relationship can develop steadily from the comfort of your own home or an appropriate place which supports your privacy and safety.
Depending on all the circumstances, we can build a confidential, warm and safe space together as we work through something difficult you may have experienced. Possible ruminations going around, unsettling issues on your mind, can be talked through.
My first session
We will initially open our first session with an initial assessment noting any presenting issues you may be aware of.
I will talk with you to explore some initial background information needed, to gain an overview of some of your experiences. This will be 30 minutes. Sessions thereafter will be 50 minutes.
We can discuss whether continuing to develop a therapeutic relationship is suitable for us both.
I look forward to talking with you very soon.
