About me and my therapy practice

You may not know why you searched for a counsellor right now; you may just feel that something doesn't feel right and you need something/someone. I believe that, in even the most terrifying times, together we can work through them to promote understanding, healing, change, growth & acceptance. To help make life feel just that little bit easier, to help manage whatever it is that may be just too difficult right now. You may need support recovering from a traumatic event, or tools to increase your self-esteem. There may be something from your past you feel it is time to talk about, safely.  

As a Counsellor in Blackpool I work primarily from a Person-Centred approach, whilst integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and drawing influence from several other psychotherapy modalities, in a way that feels tailored and unique for a client's individual needs. This simply means I use different approaches for the most effective therapy for you. First and foremost, I bring empathy and understanding. 

I believe in attuning to you and adjusting the therapeutic needs and treatment to meet you where you are in that moment, to help encourage you to do the same. This enhances the therapeutic outcome and allows for us to work together to meet your needs and navigate your way through whatever may arise, helping lead you to the person you want to be and life you want to live. 

My therapy style is warm and inclusive, inviting you to be the person you truly are; your truest and most authentic self - with no apologies, no judgement and no stigmatization of labels. Together we can discover and uncover any pain and trauma that has perhaps remained 'hidden' in order to promote healing, moving through that emotion, allowing for a sense of emotional freedom, empowerment, acceptance. 

Reaching out is one of the bravest decisions you can make and I value that - I offer you that space to feel heard and understood without judgement. That alone can bring positive change and relief from emotional burden. 

Practice description

My practice is warm and inviting, I can offer face-to-face therapy in a private, warm and comfortable setting - or online via several different platforms. I am also able to visit in the home subject to circumstances and prior assessment. 

My room is located on the first floor with one flight of stairs, I apologise at present there is no lift. For this reason I can offer home visits subject to assessment. 

There is ample parking to the front, side and rear of the property.  I will always meet you at the door as it is a secure building. 


My first session

Your first session is a half hour initial assessment which is offered free of charge. 

I offer this initial free half hour assessment/consultation via telephone or face to face to ensure we both feel comfortable and ready to work together. It has to feel right; the therapeutic connection plays such an imperative role in the process. I take this very seriously and offer you that space to decide in your own time how it feels for you. I am also very happy to signpost and refer.
