About me and my therapy practice
If you are suspecting there is something 'wrong' with you, that you don't quite fit in, that the others can't understand you nor relate to you nor you to them, if you feel you don't belong but would like to, you are welcome.
Hello! My name is Melissa and I am a BACP accredited registered counsellor. I work in private practice Bedford Bridge Counselling offering online, face to face and and walk and talk counselling.
I specialise in working with those who are neurodivergent or suspect they may be. This includes those who are dyslexic, dyspraxic, have ADHD, or are autistic, as well as those who are at the intersection, such as AuDHD, or recognise they have some of the characteristics.
I have two other types of clients I also enjoy working with: those with anxiety and members of the LGBTQ+ community (of various genders, sexual orientations and lifestyles including polyam).
My passion is to help my clients feel empowered and develop better self- awareness, which will in turn help create a more proudly diverse world.
If you'd like to find out how I can help, please get in touch via WhatsApp.
Practice description
I work with individual clients online via a number of platforms, or face to face in a counselling room in Bedford town centre. I have also had training in outdoor therapy, although this is not everyone's first thought when they consider the setting for counselling!
We can also use an accessible room if you have mobility issues.
If you require any additional considerations to enable you to access counselling, please get in touch and we can discuss this further.
About me
I grew up in a patriarchal society and have had to break-free from the pre-determined expectations around me. I have lived in different cultures and have travelled widely. I have had to discover how to live my own life rather than someone else’s – and I believe that has been especially helpful thing to me as a therapist (particularly as I first qualified as an engineer!).
My first session
I offer a free 20min phone or video call, for you to be able to ask any questions you may have and see if you feel we can work together.
Once you make a decision to start working with me, we would book our first session and I will send you a welcome pack prior with all the details you need to know. In the first session we normally discuss what brings you to counselling and what you would like to achieve. I also often ask questions to get to know you and better understand the issues you would like to work on.
In the first instance, contact can be made on WhatsApp or through an enquiry form on the left of my profile.
