About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified counsellor trained at the Gestalt Centre in London.
There are times in all our lives when it can be helpful to have time out from day-to-day pressures to reflect and get some new perspective, making time to speak to a counsellor can be a useful resource in this process.
When working with a client and a trusting relationship is formed, I invite them to be curious about themselves, to explore how they relate to others and how they respond in the situations they find themselves in. I work with clients in the here and now of the session to help raise their awareness of thought processes, emotions, and behaviours and how they might manifest relationally between us. This may include reflecting on how difficult past experiences might be influencing them in the present, emotionally, cognitively and viscerally. Raising awareness of these responses can help to cultivate a more self-accepting attitude and more resilience when facing life’s challenges.
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked in the creative industries for many years, it was my personal experience of counselling and psychotherapy that fuelled my desire to move into the health and wellbeing sector and provide a counselling service for others. I find the work to be very rewarding.
Practice description
I offer weekly, 50 minute sessions, long term or short term led by your needs. I work with adults on an individual basis face to face or online via Zoom.
I have experience of working with clients with a wide variety of issues, including complex family dynamics, stress, long term health issues, anxiety and depression, but have an ongoing interest in working with people who are recently bereaved or experiencing a life changing loss. This work is supported by my experience of counselling clients at a north London bereavement service.
Loss can come at any time in life and can take us by surprise, it can be overwhelming emotionally and can impact how people cope with regular day to day practicalities of family life and work. Grief is different for everyone, cultural influences and relational dynamics within families will impact how people grieve. It can be confusing and for that reason I offer a safe, empathetic, environment for clients to explore what grief is for them.
My aim as counsellor is to create a secure, neutral and confidential space for you to explore what your needs are in relation to the loss.
