About me and my therapy practice
While I work with a variety of issues and encourage you to bring whatever is troubling you, I often encounter common themes including:
• a pesky inner critical voice that taunts clients when they're feeling stressed and tired;
• a desire to hide away from the world when feeling overwhelmed;
• a sense of being weighed down by responsibility;
• putting on a brave face because showing vulnerability feels too exposing;
• a loss of connection with one's true self.
I really enjoy getting to know clients on a deeper level, discovering their deepest fears and anxieties, as well as what gives them hope and meaning. I see myself as a guide rather than an expert, committed to walking alongside you as you navigate life's challenges. I often liken our journey to standing at the foot of a mountain together—excited but apprehensive about the path ahead, not knowing where it will lead, but ready to face it together.
Psychotherapeutic work primarily involves exploring the unconscious—what lies outside our conscious awareness. This can sometimes feel unsettling, especially if you prefer certainty and clarity. Trusting the process and embracing the unknown can be one of the most challenging aspects of psychotherapy, but it is also where its beauty and magic lie. As you begin to feel hopeful again, notice positive changes in your relationships, and experience a shift in how you feel about yourself, you’ll see the transformative power of this journey.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face sessions in a lovely room in Gosforth.
Therapeutic Approach
As a qualified psychotherapist, my approach is rooted in understanding the underlying causes of your emotional distress. I believe in building a trusting, collaborative relationship where you feel comfortable being yourself and sharing openly. Rather than offering quick fixes, I aim to work with you over time to address the core issues driving your pain, whether that’s trauma, shame, or unresolved emotional conflict.
I typically work with clients on a weekly basis. Regular sessions create a predictable routine, providing a sense of security and maintaining ongoing momentum in addressing issues. This consistency makes it easier to build on the progress made in previous sessions and ensures you have the necessary emotional support as we delve deeper into the work.
I also love working creatively to help you express things that can be difficult to articulate or to bring awareness to the sources of your distress. We may use drawing, imagery, guided visualisations, dreamwork, or simply talk. Together, we will decide on an approach that feels comfortable for you.
I will work with you at your pace, ensuring that our sessions are tailored to your needs and comfort.

Incorporating EMDR Into Our Work
I am currently training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). When appropriate, with your informed consent, we can explore incorporating this into our sessions. EMDR is a powerful technique shown to help reprocess traumatic memories, making them less distressing over time. By addressing the root causes, EMDR helps reduce the frequency and intensity of unwanted images, thoughts and body sensations, allowing you to move forward.
